The Sagittarius Blue Moon rises on May 31, 2026, bringing one of the rarest lunar events of the decade. A second Full Moon in the same calendar month has always held significance in witchcraft, particularly when combined with Sagittarius, the sign of prophecy, wisdom, expansion, truth-seeking, spiritual growth, and freedom.
This is not a Moon for sitting still.
It is a Moon for working.
If you practice candle magic, this is an excellent time for road-opening spells. Carve your intention into a blue, purple, orange, or white candle and focus on removing obstacles standing between you and your desired future.
If you work with divination, pull cards beneath the Moon and ask what path is opening over the next six months. Sagittarius energy is strongly connected to foresight, guidance, and messages that reveal future possibilities.
If you keep a grimoire or Book of Shadows, write a letter to your future self. Describe where you wish to be by the time the next Blue Moon arrives in December 2028. Seal it and revisit it when that Moon finally returns.
This is also a powerful night for scrying. Use a black mirror, dark bowl of water, crystal ball, or polished obsidian. Sagittarius energy often reveals symbols connected to long-term direction rather than immediate answers.
For those who practice manifestation, create a Blue Moon wish list. Choose nine intentions connected to growth, abundance, freedom, travel, spiritual development, creativity, knowledge, confidence, or purpose. Read them aloud beneath the Moon and place them somewhere sacred until the next Full Moon.
Fire magic is particularly potent beneath Sagittarius. Write down a fear, limitation, self-doubt, or old identity that has been holding you back. Safely burn the paper and visualise the energy leaving your life completely.
This Moon is also ideal for working with herbs associated with Jupiter and expansion. Bay leaves, cinnamon, clove, cedar, sage, mugwort, and frankincense can all be incorporated into rituals, incense blends, altar work, spell jars, or offerings.
Cleanse your altar. Recharge crystals. Consecrate new tools. Create lunar water. Leave tarot cards, pendulums, charms, talismans, and ritual jewellery beneath the Moonlight.
Most importantly, ask yourself where your spirit has outgrown its current boundaries.
Because Sagittarius does not ask what feels safe.
It asks what becomes possible once fear is removed.
Beneath a Blue Moon this rare, that question carries more power than any spell.
