We recently added a new piece of art to the office, and while it’s striking at first glance, it carries a deeper meaning that reflects the work we do every day.
The painting is inspired by Atlas, the figure known for holding the celestial spheres. It’s a powerful image, and one that closely mirrors a structure in the human body called the atlas, the first cervical vertebra.
This small bone, weighing only about two ounces, supports the head, which can weigh ten to fourteen pounds and houses the brain, the senses, and our connection to the world around us. It sits at a critical junction where the brain transitions into the spinal cord, influencing communication throughout the entire body.
Because of its design, this area allows for a great deal of motion, but that also means it is more susceptible to subtle imbalance. Even small shifts here can influence how the body organizes itself, affecting tension patterns, fluid movement, and the way signals travel between the brain and body.
In our work, we focus on restoring precision at this level. Not through force, but through accuracy. When the atlas is properly aligned, it allows the body to function with greater balance and efficiency.
The painting is a reminder of that idea. Just as Atlas supports something vast and complex, the atlas supports the systems that shape how we move, think, and experience life.
After more than 30 years focused on this work, it felt meaningful to bring that symbolism into the space. It’s more than just a piece of art. It’s a reflection of the principle that something small, when properly aligned, can influence everything that follows.
A very special thank you to our friend, the very talented local artist Dave Bueno, for creating this masterpiece🙏 ❤️
