🚨 Spot the Signs of an Overdose
An opioid or drug overdose is a medical emergency. Watch for these critical warning signs:
• Unconsciousness: The person cannot be woken up.
• Slow or shallow breathing: Breathing is very slow, erratic, or has stopped completely.
• Blue or gray lips/fingertips: Caused by a lack of oxygen in the blood.
• Choking or gurgling sounds: Often called the "death rattle."
• Cold, clammy, or pale skin.
🛡️ How to Prevent and Respond
• Carry Naloxone (Narcan): This life-saving nasal spray reverses an opioid overdose within minutes. It is safe, easy to use, and available over-the-counter at most local pharmacies. Get your FREE Narcan kit @ https://odfree.org/get-naloxone/
• Never Use Alone: If you or someone you know uses substances, try to use with someone else present, or call the Never Use Alone Hotline at 1-800-484-3731.
• Test Your Drugs: Fentanyl is frequently mixed into counterfeit pills and other substances. Fentanyl test strips can detect its presence before use.
• Call 911 Immediately: Do not hesitate to get help. Mississippi's Good Samaritan laws offer legal protections for individuals calling to report an overdose crisis.
