It was a beautiful ☀️ morning in Dublin☘️ to walk Bridge Park with the sweetest client of mine!! ( I walked, she rode!😊)

There are years between us, I could fit her in my pocket, we don’t speak the same language… but when she smiles and holds my hand it’s a confident reminder that I’m doing what I was made to be doing💗💗💗

Chris Salvatore was 31 when he knocked on his neighbor's door for the first time. Norma Cook, 89, answered and offered him a glass of ch*****ne. They sat down and talked for hours. That was the start of a friendship that would last the rest of her life.

The two lived across the hall from each other in a West Hollywood apartment complex. Cook had been there for about 30 years. She was childless and had no close family in California. Salvatore was a young actor who visited her most days. She called him the grandson she never had. He called her his grandmother.

When Cook's leukemia worsened and she spent two months in the hospital battling pneumonia, doctors told her she couldn't return home without 24-hour care. Her insurance wouldn't cover it. The only other option was a facility.

Salvatore wouldn't let that happen. He set up a GoFundMe and raised more than $50,000 for her care. When the money started running out on caretakers, he asked her to move in with him. She brought her cat, Hermes.

They fell into a routine. He cooked for her. They watched the news, drank ch*****ne, and ate peanuts. "If he can't make it as an actor, he can make it as a chef," she joked.

Cook passed away in February 2017. She spent her final days exactly where she wanted to be, across the hall from the apartment she'd lived in for 30 years, with the person she loved most 🤍

Attended a client neuro PT appointment today at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware. In all the years I’ve lived in central Ohio I’ve never been here. Such a nice, clean, and hospitable (really!) staff they have. From the security guards to reception to the therapist- all so professional and went out of their way to make sure I got where I needed to be with my client! 10/10 experience!!

Was helping a client tour facilities today and we happened to walk into an incredible & intimate concert by Noah Back at Trustwell Living at Urbana Place! Of all the things to bring bonus points to this facility, it was this performance and his genuine caring demeanor toward each resident! My client was so impressed by the staff and renovations happening here as well.

What a beautiful renovation - congratulations to Harmony Trace in Hilliard!

I was fortunate to attend their open house today and managed a tour from a Physical Therapist I’ve worked with before. It was so great to see some of my past clients, now living in the facility and THRIVING, and to meet some of the VERY tenured staff that have been here over 15, 20, and 25 years!! THAT says ALOT!! You just don’t see that often in this industry!

The facility went all out with an unbelievable tasting spread including lobster salad, beef tenderloin, an array of desserts and so many welcoming and friendly staff members who were all smiles!

If you’re looking at Assisted Living/Memory Care facilities locally, I’ve talked to family members who are so impressed by the care their loved ones are receiving at Harmony Trace. Located in Mill Run north of Fishinger.

I especially love getting to know my new dementia clients better by working on collages with them. This exercise invokes memories deep in their conscience and allows me to better tailor conversations and care for them with their preferences in mind.
