🎧 ASMR: Microneedling Edition
Tiny needles. Controlled micro-injuries. BIG skin benefits.
Microneedling is one of my favorite treatments for improving overall skin quality because it works by creating controlled microchannels in the skin, triggering your body’s natural healing response and stimulating collagen + elastin production.
Over time, microneedling can help with:
• Fine lines + wrinkles
• Acne scarring
• Uneven texture
• Enlarged pores
• Uneven skin tone
• Overall firmness + smoother, healthier-looking skin
What about downtime?
Expect redness and warmth immediately after treatment—think mild to moderate sunburn. Redness typically settles within 24–48 hours, while dryness, tightness, sensitivity or light flaking can hang around for a few days. I always tell clients to plan for roughly 2–3 days of social downtime, although everyone heals differently.
And because I know somebody is going to watch this and think, “Wait…I can buy one of those online.”
There is a BIG difference between at-home microneedling and professional microneedling with a medical-grade device.
At-home rollers/pens are generally designed for much more superficial use. A professional medical-grade microneedling device can use controlled, adjustable needle depths and reach deeper levels when appropriate for the treatment area and concern—which is where we can create a more significant controlled wound-healing response.
Deeper does not automatically mean better, though. Needle depth should be selected based on your skin, treatment area and goals. Going too deep or using improper technique can increase the risk of infection, scarring, prolonged inflammation and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
That’s why true microneedling should be performed by a properly trained and appropriately licensed professional using a professional device and proper sanitation protocols.
