Your ferritin came back “normal.” So why do you still feel exhausted all the time?
I see this constantly with the athletes I work with: hemoglobin looks fine, ferritin gets a passing grade based on the reference range next to your value, and nobody questions it further.
But the “normal” range on most lab reports was built in the 1960s, on a population that wasn’t athletes, and it hasn’t caught up.
Swipe through for what actually matters when you’re looking at your iron labs: why the threshold is so inconsistent, why athletes deplete faster than the general population, and the lab marker most people don’t know to ask for.
I broke this down in way more depth (thresholds, why it happens, and how to treat it) in a free 3-part series on my Substack.
