Opening Day for Amity Creek Primary Care! We are excited to have you at our new office. The last few weeks have been incredible and we thank you for your support! So many people have stepped up to make this happen! A big thanks to Jonathan Maurer Jones our builder/contractor extraordinaire, his partner Allan Schokker, electrician John Goeke, Clancy Ward who made us beautiful desks, Ken Zakovich with TIMBR design, Matthew Olin from Think Likewise, and Sek Design. Our husbands for always running errands, finishing tasks and the endless list of things we need done. The flowers friends and family have sent have brightened the office, especially on these grey spring days! Come check us out! We are still taking new patients but anticipate filling quickly!

Greetings Duluth!

Wow! It has been a busy few weeks as we work to get the clinic open. We have driven all over Minnesota, dragging kids and husbands along picking up equipment. Dr. Spears' kids and friends were our moving-crew extraordinaire! We have been drilling, cleaning, shopping, packing/unpacking as we juggle meeting new patients and getting our first patients scheduled for next week! Our contractor is working so incredibly hard to finish up so we can open.

A big shoutout to my husband, Mike Saline at Saline Landscape. in the last few weeks, he has driven us to the Twin Cities and back multiple times, hauled a heavy trailer full of equipment and navigated how to move all this heavy equipment. Every time I ask him "Can you help me with this?" the answer is always "Yes. Yes. Yes."

And to add to all that, I would not be here without him. He has watched me navigate exiting my prior practice, cheered me on, steadied me and supported our family so I can pursue this dream. I am forever grateful!

We should be open more fully the week of April 13th!

We'd like to take a moment to introduce ourselves! Together, Drs. Spears and Lusian Saline are behind the newest primary care clinic in Duluth. We are proud to offer Direct Primary Care, a care model that cuts out the middleman and offers cash-based membership.

Dr. Spears has been in the community for 20 years and we are lucky to have her. She and her husband Brian (another family doc) have two kids and a sweet lab. You can find her on early morning runs around town, watching her kids ski race and cooking up delicious food. The Spears-Capps bunch are such generous hosts and always have a spot at the table for an extra friend (or 5!)

Dr. Lusian Saline fell in love with Duluth as a college student and the residency program left its mark as she rotated here as a student back in 2008. She and her husband Mike have two kids and a messy golden retriever. She is happily found running and skiing our beautiful trails, biking with kids and though she loves a tasty vegetarian meal, loathes making dinner.

Amity Creek Primary Care is inching towards our opening day! Drs. Spears and Lusian are thrilled to offer a new medical practice in Duluth. With 35 years combined working experience, there isn’t much the two of us can’t handle. We think Direct Primary Care is a good remedy for many of the common complaints about health care: poor access to your doctor, surprise health care costs and feeling like a widget in a large assembly line.
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a model of providing health care directly to people without billing medical insurance. Instead, our patients pay a low monthly fee, which covers anything you would see a primary care physician for including preventive exams, routine labs, diagnosis and management of many acute and chronic conditions, as well as many procedures. Patients have direct access to us via phone, text, email, video visits and in-person office visits. You can expect same or next-day appointments and little to no wait times. There will be no copays or surprise bills.
We are still finalizing our office and it is not open yet. We have had many “Meet & Greet” appointments (done virtually), and are humbled by those that have given us the chance to be their doctor. Our first patients have signed up and we can’t wait to partner with you!
