🏋️ You get better at anything you practice.
Stress is one thing most people don’t practice. Contrast therapy is one of the few options to practice hormetic, or intentional, low-dosed stress for benefit.
While the heat stress of the sauna has a slower onset and is more relaxed in nature, cold plunging is a whole different animal. It mimics the stresses of everyday life.
Most of the stresses we want to get better at handling from everyday life hits you like cold water. They don’t announce themselves. The onset is sudden. They’re uncomfortable. Our nervous system tells us to avoid them and get out ASAP, most times at any cost and the reaction is contrary to what we would choose if we could slow down.
Cold plunging, when done with intention, can help build resilience to stresses such as these not only cooling your inflammation and core temperature, but helping you to “cool your jets” when it matters most.
We all deal with stress, it’s unavoidable. We can also learn to stop avoiding it, sit in it, and come out of the other side more resilient. If you haven’t, hit our website and check out our blog on bringing intention to your next, or first, contrast therapy session.
Stay cool 😎
