As the time narrows down to the final voting hours, I have found myself pondering upon the following:
Have you noted the elections getting more spiritual? I remember within the previous presidential election it was said:
We are fighting for America’s soul, and I feel those words have not been truer than now. We know there is a spiritual battle happening for our very souls. Whether or not we are actively aware of it or indirectly, that eternal struggle we battle between right and wrong within our own lives is ever present, encroached in every aspect of our lives.
I would compel all who are able to go and cast your vote, do so. We not only have a civil duty but a moral one. I will not say who to vote for, as that should be based on your beliefs and personal convictions. I will say, remember this is not a popularity contest, but about policies we will have to live with for at least the next four years; make sure it is worth our time, we will have to live it. Make your voice be heard, not just at the national level but at the local level too.
Reflecting on the Bible, in the book of Esther; Queen Esther and her uncle Mordecai, a Jewish leader found out the King’s adviser Haman planned on killing the Jews within the Persian Empire. There was an obligation to their people, the people of God, Israel. Mordecai says to Esther, you have been raised up for such a time as this. She could have turned a blind eye within her fear and God would have raised someone else in her stead. She rose and went before her king, used her position to intervene, revealing her identity, begging for mercy towards her people, saving them. Now while I understand that this election is not as serious as what went on during her time, nevertheless, we are in a fight for Our Nation’s Soul. As such, it is our responsibility to look at the policies being put before us, view and judge them accordingly to God’s Word and will.
Let’s take a moment to consider Israel defending the Holy land; throughout history they have not been called to just pray and coward behind closed doors, defenseless. Likewise we have been called to put on the armor of Christ to fight against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness. Praying and watching with perseverance and supplication.
Ephesians 6:11-18
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
As Christian’s our hope and salvation is in Christ and Christ alone. But even Jesus himself said give unto Caesar what belongs to him as we also give unto God what is His. As Christian’s, Don’t we have a moral obligation to stand in the gap? Not only in prayer? When we pray the Lord’s Prayer, do we not pray ‘Let your will be done here on earth as it is in heaven?’ Our trust belongs solely in Jesus, and no one else. Our faith and hope lays only in him and no other. But we must remember we are to be the salt of this earth.
Matthew 5:13
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
While this scripture concerns itself with promoting the gospel, I think it still is applicable. I believe the church of Christ has been casted down trampled upon by the world because we have lost our savour. The light we are supposed to let shine in love has been dimmed by our own selves not wanting to be the leaders we’re supposed to be. We are at fault for allowing things to have happen over the course of time without intervention as the body of Christ we are.
I know our days have been numbered and shortened, and know without doubt Jesus is coming soon. But None of Us Knows the Day and Hour of when His Return Will Be, No One but The Father, God Himself, Creator of Heaven and Earth.
Let there be peace, tranquility and joy in your heart mind and soul.
