We often think about all the things we should be doing to be productive: food prep and shopping, exercise, sauna, cleaning, working, doctor's appointments, running errands… the list goes on.

But one of the best things you can do to support your body on a cancer journey is REST.

Your nervous system doesn't recover while it's "on." It recovers when you actually let it downshift, and that shows up in real, measurable ways: lower stress hormones, better immune regulation, more resilience for everything else on that list.

For me, the best way to get into the parasympathetic is to read in the sun.

Health Tip Tuesday!

Did you know the herbs in your kitchen are doing more than adding flavor and delicious aromas? Herbs carry a wide range of healing properties, and here are a few of our favorites. Holy basil helps calm the nervous system, cilantro supports natural detox pathways, and peppermint eases nausea and settles the stomach.

This is exactly what we mean when we say "Food is Medicine." Knowing your ingredients and how they support your health and well-being makes all the difference.

What's your favorite herb?

Açaí bowls are a summer staple in my household, and some simple swaps can make it metabolic friendly. I switch up traditional banana for avocado (same creamy texture, less blood sugar impact), and make sure the açaí is unsweetened.

Açaí isn’t just delicious; it’s one of the highest antioxidant foods out there. Antioxidants from the açaí and berries help scavenge free radicals that can damage our DNA (which is one of the ways cancer starts in the body).

My recipe:
1 pack unsweetened Sambazon açaí
3 tbsp coconut milk
½ avocado
1 scoop bone broth protein
1 tbsp ground flax + 1 tbsp chia

Blend, then top with pumpkin seeds, h**p hearts & berries.

What's your go-to açaí bowl topping?

You heard it here first!

Jen and Jai, with Luminous Wealth, talk about how our genetics aren't our end-all, be-all answer to health, but they help us understand our “potential.” There are so many things we do to support our bodies, our health, and our minds regardless of our genes.

This is what Remission Nutrition is all about: empowering you to make changes in your life now to potentially avoid dis-ease. It's about starting early and learning what will support you as an individual.

A 2026 research review in Nutrients confirms what terrain-based nutrition has said for years. Diet affects cancer through multiple pathways: metabolism, inflammation, immunity, and gut health. The goal isn't to hit all of them equally. It's knowing which ones matter most for you right now. And that’s our focus at Remission Nutrition.

During a 1:1 consultation, we peel back the layers of you as a person, your cancer type and treatment, your current lab values, and how you feel, so we can meet you where you are and outline a plan that's specific to your terrain.

Nutrition is not meant to be one-size-fits-all. Everyone is different; everyone has different needs, and Remission Nutrition emphasizes that individualism.

Please message us if you are interested in starting or need more support on your nutrition journey.

Health Tip Tuesday!

Did you know starting your day with a warm bowl of soup can help with digestion, hydration, and stable energy levels throughout the day?

This morning soup is made with grass-fed organic bone broth to provide hydration, protein, and collagen (good for gut tissue), avocado oil and coconut milk for healthy fats, ginger for an extra digestion kick, and all sorts of yummy veggies.

Start by cooking chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and other veggies on medium-low heat with tons of avocado oil. Season with salt, pepper, and herbs of your choice. Then add in your bone broth, more avocado oil, and seasonings. Bring to a boil, then let simmer on the stove covered for 20 minutes. Add coconut milk, and enjoy!

Make this soup yours; feel free to add more veggies, more protein, or more seasonings as you see fit!

After you eat, do 10 squats (chair squats work too … simply stand up and sit down). It activates your quads and glutes, which pull glucose from your blood without requiring extra insulin. Rack up more benefits if you do multiple sets of 10 squats throughout the day.

I find squats super helpful when the weather is too hot (or cold) for a longer walk. Try it today and let us know how it worked for you.

You know those essential oils that give basil its amazing smell? That’s where the nutrients live too!

We can retain more of basil's nutritional benefits by preparing it gently. Tear, don’t chop. Eat raw or add at the end of cooking. And add olive oil to help absorb more fat-soluble nutrients.

Fun fact: the purple flower on basil is also edible! Pinch them off your plant so it continues to grow and use as a garnish, or infuse in olive oil!

What's your favorite way to eat basil?
