Friendly PSA:
This is the current stage of my elderflowers (Sambucus canadensis).
Certainly, there are some that could be a little further along than mine. However, if you are finding elder that are already in bloom or past bloom and headed toward the berry stage, you're looking at a different species of elder (likely Red Elder, Sambucus racemosa).
Generally, Red Elder is not worked as medicine as it contains higher amounts of toxic compounds. I personally do not work with this plant and recommend the same to others, especially to those newer to herbalism.
Please be aware and always be certain of plant identification before harvesting any plant 🌱💜
