I’m doing this thing where every time I start a new workout program, I choose a word that represents what I’m working towards in that program. And for this new program, my word is... POWERFUL. ✊🏼This program combines barre, strength training, cardio and mobility. The moves are functional and will help me go through not only the workout, but the rest of my life in a more POWERFUL way. Because I’m not just squatting to have a great b***y and legs, I’m squatting so I can be strong enough to run around with my family. I’m not just doing bicep curls to look good in a tank top, I’m curling so I can hold a baby with strength and carry the groceries without feeling like I’m about to keel over. I don’t just workout for the looks… I workout for my LIFE. So what’s your word gonna be?!

Drop it in the comments below and let me know! 👇🏼

Society has done a damn good job making us believe these things. ⁣

Unfortunately, people are judged based on: ⁣

-The # in your bank account. ⁣
-The # of followers you have. ⁣
-Your body or how you look. ⁣
-Your accomplishments or what you own. ⁣
-The # of friends you have. ⁣
-Your past or your mistakes. ⁣

When these false identities are threatened or challenged it can really hurt. ⁣

Signs you might be holding an identity on yourself:⁣

-You get angry or defensive. ⁣
-Deep anxiety and fear of judgement from others. ⁣
-Feelings of insecurity. ⁣
-Feelings of worthlessness because you cannot meet ‘society standards.’⁣
-You change your values, looks or how you do things just to be approved or loved by everyone. ⁣

These are UNHEALTHY because they are INAUTHENTIC. It is not who you truly are. ⁣

They are merely reactions to a deeper, subconscious level that needs attention or healing. ⁣

Pay attention to that.

When you are so committed and you are so consistent, you will watch how you can change your own life.

My health and fitness journey started because I wanted to lose weight and stop feeling shame every time I look myself in the mirror! I turn around the mirror of my house so I could avoid them). I won’t lie about it, I won’t sugar coat it. I was TIRED of feeling less than others and that feeling was directly tied to how I felt about myself.

But over time, and through a lot of trial and error, health & fitness because about so much more.

It became about taking care of my whole self.
It became about putting my needs first so I could better help others.
It became about practicing self-care and making sure my mental health was in order.

It became about showing other women the power that comes from committing to yourself FIRST.

It’s one of those “IYKYK” things but girl, committing to a fitness routine CAN change your life. I fully believe that because I have lived it. I have seen other people live it. I have helped other people live it.

Committing to a health & wellness journey means (sometimes) committing to yourself again. Putting yourself in a place of care and recognition of your needs and your potential.

Home workouts helped me see my potential. They helped me find consistency and have taught me WAAAAY more than just exercise moves.

So whatever you are committing to in the summer, be committed. Be SO committed & watch how it changes your entire life ✨

It happened to me & all of these amazing other ladies, so why not you too?

If you need help and guidance on how to start I'm here for you!

I have a daughter that breathes fire.

She is also sweet and kind and cuddly. She loves to hug and draws me pictures that are covered with "I love you"s. Her favorite place to sleep is against my back, her favorite place to sit is with one of her limbs overlapping mine.

But also, she is wild. She is untamed. She is fiery and fierce and stubborn. She erupts like a volcano, and she fights for her way like her life depends on it.

I'm not gunna lie, sometimes I get tired. Sometimes I'd like her fire to stay quiet (particularly in Walmart and at the playground). Sometimes I'd like her to be a follower not a leader (sorry). Sometimes I'd like to just not have this battle right now, for the love. Sometimes I just can't even.

But here's the truth: I love her fire. I love it. I love that she's fierce and fiery and stubborn. I love that she's a leader not a follower. I love that she knows who she is. I love that she says what she thinks. I love that she's not scared. I love that she breathes fire.

Even though (yes) I get tired.

Every single day I tell myself that I will not tame her and I will not dim her light. Yes, I will teach her to manage her emotions. Yes, I will teach her to channel her passion in healthy ways. But I will not tame her. I will not cover her up or s***f her out. I will not teach her to be quiet or timid or safe.

The truth is that it took me a really long time to learn how to use my own voice and to speak up and to shake off rules I thought I had to follow. I had to learn to be fierce.

My daughter, she was just born that way.

I'd be lying if I didn't say she wears me out sometimes, but I also be lying if I didn't say I absolutely love my firework, just the way she is.

Them: “You’re crazy working out while been pregnant”
“You can harm the baby”
“Are you sure that's safe while been pregnant 😳”
“Slow down... You shouldn't get your heart rate over 130 while exercising during pregnancy.”

Me 🤰🏻: “Do you think I would put my baby in danger”
“Please educate yourself"
“Now of all times is when I have more reason to strengthen my body!” 😉
" I could get that heart rate while cleaning around the house as well"

Those are some of the many messages and convos I had in the last couple of months! So I felt like I need to address this topic publicly to educate and explain myself to y'all.

I understand that in the not-so-distant past, women were urged to cut down on or even avoid exercise during pregnancy. Today, we know differently. (Read disclaimer) Not only is it OK to participate in fitness activities during pregnancy, but doing so can have a positive impact on both baby and mom.
You need to be physically active during pregnancy. It has terrific benefits that are associated with a better pregnancy outcome and even shorter labors. It's a win-win for baby and mom.

I also know that I will show up as a better mom by continuing habits that I started well before my second pregnancy. I gain so much weight while pregnant with Ari and my nutrition was horrible. (Swipe to see more pictures) at that time no one messages me or told me anything about my lifestyle!

After having Ari the more significant here is how I felt about myself in general. Low-self esteem, low self-worth and put too much value in my appearance/weight/image to validate me. I was depressed and the anxiety was through the rough!
