📞Meet The Movement Doctor: Anna Claes

If you’ve ever called The Movement Doctors, there’s a good chance Anna was the first person you talked to.

📲 And if you’ve talked to Anna, you probably remember it. Most clinics answer the phone and schedule an appointment. Anna does something different.

She takes the time to learn your story.

She wants to know what brought you here, what you’ve tried before, what’s frustrating you, and most importantly, what you’re hoping to get back to doing.

Many of her first conversations with prospective patients last 20 minutes or more because she understands something most healthcare offices miss:

People don’t just want an appointment. They want someone to listen., and they want to know they’re in the right place. They also want hope that things can get better.

Anna is the person who starts that process. Truly it is the therapy before the physical therapy.

Behind the scenes, she works tirelessly to support our patients, our clinicians, and our team. She keeps things moving, solves problems before they become problems, and somehow makes everyone’s job easier.

And when she’s not helping patients, she’s busy being a mom to four incredible kids.

Watching her balance motherhood, work, and life with the energy and passion she brings every day is nothing short of impressive.

The truth is that many people will never fully realize how much of our patient experience is shaped by Anna. But we do. And we’re incredibly grateful for her.❤️

If Anna has ever answered your questions, calmed your nerves, helped you get scheduled, or simply made your day a little better, leave her some love below 👇

Physical therapy… but make it pretty.

When we designed this space, we wanted it to feel different.

Less fluorescent lights.
Less “doctor’s office.”
Less crowded waiting room energy.

More somewhere you actually wanted to be.

Because if you’re spending time recovering from an injury, getting stronger, preparing for surgery, returning to sport, or finally addressing something that has bothered you for years… environment matters.

We wanted warm.

Historic.

Welcoming.

A place where healthcare didn’t feel cold.

A place where athletes could train hard, active adults could feel comfortable, and women coming for pelvic health care didn’t feel like they were walking into a sterile medical office.

Nearly 150 years ago, this building started caring for Easley as one of the town’s first medical spaces.

Today, we’re proud to continue that tradition in a different way.

Brick walls. Black ceilings. Natural light. One-on-one care.

Physical therapy…

But make it pretty.

(And really, really good.)

What’s your favorite part of the clinic? 👇

Spring 2026 was a blur.

Somehow summer is already here.

Over the last few months, we’ve had the opportunity to help athletes get back on the field, support NFL dreams, celebrate big wins after injuries, watch high school seniors commit to college athletics, help women get stronger, partner with our local community, and continue serving the town we love.

There were early mornings. Long days. Big milestones. Hard rehab sessions. A lot of laughs. And a lot of people trusting us with something important — their health.

Every season here has a story.

Spring 2026 was a good one.

To every patient, athlete, parent, community partner, and supporter who trusted us this spring — thank you.

Now let’s see what summer has in store ☀️

Offseasons are never really “off.”❌
That’s when the real work starts.

Recovery. Strength. Mobility. Taking care of the things your body went through during a long season before they turn into bigger problems.

Clemson Offensive Lineman has been putting in work this offseason to take care of his body and prepare for what’s ahead.

The athletes who stay on the field in the fall are usually the ones who handled the offseason the right way.

Not just lifting. Not just conditioning. But actually taking care of the body that has to weather months of practices, collisions, lifting, and wear and tear.

💡The best athletes we work with understand something important: Availability matters.

What you ignore in June has a way of showing up in September. Summer workouts are here. Now is the time to recover. Rebuild. Reload.
📲DM us “ATHLETE” if you want to partner with us this offseason, and maximize your offseason.

Before it was The Movement Doctors, it was Frierson’s Drugstore. And before that?

This was Lot No. 1 - the original lot in Easley!

Purchased in 1875, with the building erected shortly after, this corner of Easley has potentially stood for nearly 150 years. Long before we moved in, people came here looking for care.

Many longtime Easley residents still know this building as Frierson’s Drugstore — Easley’s original pharmacy and home to the town’s first doctor’s office. For generations, this building played a role in helping care for the people of this community.

That history means something to us.

When we renovated this space, we wanted to preserve the character and story of the building while continuing its purpose in a new way.

Today, instead of filling prescriptions, we help people get back to what moves them.

The high school athlete trying to stay on the field. The runner training for their next race. The parent who just wants to pick up their child without pain. The grandparent wanting to stay active and independent.

Different season. Same purpose.

For nearly 150 years, this building has helped care for Easley. We’re proud to continue that tradition.

If you remember Frierson’s Drugstore, or have stories about this building, we’d love to hear them below 👇

👨‍🏫If you’ve worked with Matt, you know pretty quickly… he’s the real deal.

Matt has been with The Movement Doctors for almost a year and a half, and he has become one of the biggest pieces of our team.

Before joining us, Matt spent decades practicing sports physical therapy and running a sports PT clinic in California. After moving to South Carolina, he took on a professor role in Anderson University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, where he teaches anatomy and therapeutic exercise to future physical therapists.

On paper, his credentials are elite.

✔ Fellowship trained in manual physical therapy
✔ Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS)
✔ Decades of sports and orthopedic experience
✔ Doctor of Physical Therapy professor

But honestly, that’s not what makes Matt special.

What stands out most is how much he cares and how adaptable he is.

Even with decades of experience, Matt is constantly learning, evolving, and finding better ways to connect with patients and improve outcomes. He has embraced new treatment methods, new ways of thinking, and has become an incredible mentor to our clinical staff.

He helps sharpen all of us.💯

Whether he’s helping an athlete get back on the field, guiding an active adult through pain, teaching future PTs in the classroom, or helping mentor our younger clinicians, Matt brings an incredible amount of knowledge, humility, and intentionality into everything he does.

We are incredibly thankful to have him on this team.

If Matt has helped you, encouraged you, or made an impact on your recovery, drop a comment below 👇

🥹🥳This one is special.

Sarah and Avery have both been with us since their freshman years of high school. Former teammates. Multiple injuries, setbacks, tune-ups, and plenty of work behind the scenes to keep them on the court.

And now they’re graduating and heading off to play college volleyball.

One of the coolest parts of what we do is getting a front row seat to watch athletes grow up. We’ve watched these two put in the work for years, and it has been fun to be a small part of their journey.

Really proud of both of you. Thanks for trusting us with your care all these years. We can’t wait to see what you both do at the next level 🏐.

Top 3 tests we use after ACL surgery before an athlete gets cleared 👇

Just because the knee feels better doesn’t mean it’s ready for sport.

Time alone doesn’t clear an athlete. Strength, power, symmetry, and confidence matter.

Here are 3 of the biggest tests we look at after an ACL injury:

1️⃣ Quad Strength Testing
If the quad doesn’t come back, the knee doesn’t come back. We measure strength side to side and make sure the surgical leg can actually handle force again.

2️⃣ Countermovement Jump
Jumping tells us a lot. How much force can you produce? Are you unloading one side? Are you powerful and explosive again?

3️⃣ Triple Hop Test
Can you absorb force, create force, and trust the leg repeatedly? Distance, control, and landing quality matter.

The goal isn’t just to be “healed.”
The goal is to return with confidence and reduce the chance of re-injury.

Too many athletes get cleared because of time. We prefer data.

💪🏼 Comment below if you’ll be at the Murph Challenge this weekend!!!

Murph is a Memorial Day workout done in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL who gave his life in combat while serving his team and his country.

The workout is simple, but not easy:

1-mile run
100 pull-ups
200 push-ups
300 air squats
1-mile run

It can be done as written, scaled, modified, or completed with a partner.

The point is not perfection.
The point is showing up.
Doing something hard.
Remembering why we do it, and honoring sacrifice with effort.

Elliot will be there representing The Movement Doctors, and we’d love to see familiar faces from our community.

Come move with us.
Come support.
Come be part of the morning.

Saturday, May 23rd
Easley YMCA
Murph with us.
