How to tell the difference between Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis?

Both are known as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). In Crohn’s disease, there are healthy parts of the intestine mixed in between inflamed areas. Ulcerative colitis, on the other hand, is continuous inflammation of the colon. Ulcerative colitis only affects the inner most lining of the colon while Crohn’s disease can occur in all the layers of the bowel walls.

Ticks are most active when temps are above 45* 😳😳😳

Lyme disease is a complex illness with many variables, which makes it a highly controversial topic in the medical world. On the most basic level, Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that is usually transmitted by blacklegged ticks and affects….

…an estimated 300,000 patients a year in North America.

In a perfect world, Lyme disease can be identified by a bullseye rash, diagnosed with a little bloodwork and treated with a course of antibiotics. Unfortunately, for too many, this is not the case. Lyme disease is insidious and can be very serious affecting multiple systems. It is one of the most misunderstood, misdiagnosed and mistreated illnesses, which remains both a mystery and sometimes a topic contention among the vast majority of medical professionals.

Early signs and symptoms (3 to 30 days after tick bite):

- Fever, chills, headache, fatigue, muscle & joint aches, swollen lymph nodes
- Erythema migrans (EM) rash

Later Signs & Symptoms (days to months after tick bite):

- Severe headache & neck stiffness
- Add’l EM rash other areas of body
- Facial palsy
- Arthritis with severe joint pain & swelling (particularly in knees & other large joints)
- Intermittent pain in tendons, muscles, joints & bones
- Heart palpitations or irregular heart beat
- Episodes of dizziness or shortness of breath
- Inflammation of the brain or spinal cord
- Nerve pain
- Shooting pains, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet

Because symptoms can manifest months or years after initial infection (or without the patient’s knowledge), some providers overlook or deny the possibility of Lyme disease as a root to their patient’s illness.

Please Come Out and Support Us at Twin Elms Wellness Retreat Public Hearing!

🍃Date: June 22nd at 6:30pm

🍃Where:  East Aurora Town Hall, 585 Oakwood Ave.

🍃Purpose: Public Hearing to determine Special Use Permit approval for the Wellness Campground (with treehouses!) which will, of course, include Cardea Health and as an accessory use to Campground.

🍃Summary: We have been unanimously approved for a referral to the Town Board by the Town Planning Board. The Town Board has now scheduled the public hearing - the most important meeting!  

The Special Use Permit details a Wellness Retreat that includes Cardea Health operating as a wellness/medical spa on premise.

🍃Call to Action:  We need your help!  Please come and support us!  We request that as many supporters, customers, patients and community members come to help us show the Town Board that this is wanted by the community.  This will determine if Cardea Health can continue to grow and evolve into the magnificent wellness retreat we always envisioned!  

This is an approved use under the Town Code. We will continue, with the overwhelming support from the community, to restore this historic landmark and repurpose it into something beautiful and sustainable that all our neighbors can enjoy for years to come!
