That 3PM crash isn’t just “normal afternoon tiredness.” Your body might be running low on this. 🍃

Fatigue that hits hard in the afternoon. A foggy mind that just won’t clear. Digestion that feels permanently sluggish. And that flat, unmotivated feeling that’s hard to put into words — let alone explain to anyone else.

Most people chalk it up to burnout, stress, or just getting older. But in my practice, one of the first things I look at when a client describes this pattern is potassium.

Potassium is one of your body’s most essential electrolytes. It drives cellular energy production, keeps your muscles firing properly, supports your nervous system, and keeps your gut moving. When it drops — even slightly — everything starts to feel off in ways that are frustratingly hard to trace back to a single cause.

Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and aluminum can interfere with magnesium by competing for the same binding sites in the body.
These metals can attach to enzymes and cellular receptors that normally rely on magnesium to function.
When heavy metals occupy these sites, magnesium gets displaced and cannot support normal biochemical activity.

This process is known as competitive inhibition.
As a result, the body may have adequate magnesium levels, but it becomes functionally unavailable, meaning it cannot be used where it is needed. When magnesium is blocked, the nervous system becomes overactive.
Stress response becomes exaggerated.
You may feel:
