A little throwback Thursday and about me in one! I thought I’d share a little bit about myself for those who don’t know me! I started singing and playing guitar when I was 7 years old, and started saxophone shortly after that. I’ve always had a passion for music and making people happy, and music therapy was the perfect combination of both of those. I went to Nazareth University for music therapy and saxophone performance, and completed my clinical internship in hospice care in Vero Beach, Florida. Since coming back home, I spent a year working in elementary and preschool special education, and became certified in Neurologic Music Therapy before starting Finger Lakes Music Therapy! How time flies!

A big thank you to the Office for the Aging for hosting such a fantastic and informative event! We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn, and continue supporting our community.

What an amazing evening last night! This client and I have spent a lot of time in recent months working on increasing his confidence, enhancing his memory through music-based reminiscence, and reconnecting with his love and passion for music. Early on, he let me know that his goal would eventually be to perform some of his favorite songs again, and last night we made that happen! This is a fantastic example of how music therapy can be instrumental (literally) in improving overall quality of life and helping to reach your goals. I could not be more proud of him; it’s been a privilege to witness his growth and be apart of his journey. I am so grateful to him, his family and friends for supporting our idea and being there to cheer us on!

Wondering what music therapy could look like at your facility or home? We use YOUR familiar and preferred music to address non-musical goals and enhance overall quality of life. That could include singing, dancing, discussion and reminiscence, exercise, instrument playing, songwriting, or group improvisation! We love bringing people together in a motivating, engaging, and enjoyable setting to share music, joy, and growth.
