🎓 The Centre for AAC was honoured to host Professor Sarah N. Douglas for the 2026 Neville Cohen Lecture entitled “Communication Partner Training to Facilitate Language and Communication for Children who Require AAC.”

Professor Sarah N. Douglas is an Associate Professor and Director of The RADD (Research in Autism and Developmental Disabilities) lab at Michigan State University. She is currently a Fulbright scholar in South Africa.

The Neville Cohen Lecture is a space dedicated to advancing inclusive communication, disability rights, and evidence based practice. This lecture brings together practitioners, scholars, families, and advocates to reflect on the legacy of Neville Cohen’s work and explore new pathways for supporting people with complex communication needs.

The lecture was deeply appreciated by all who attended. Professor Douglas offered rich, practical insights into communication partner training for partners supporting AAC users. Participants engaged in robust discussions, exploring both solutions and key considerations for communication partner training across diverse contexts.

We'd like to highlight another graduate for Spring 2026. Shreshta Sinha graduated with a B.S. in Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience. He is excited to continue his academic journey at Brown University for a master’s degree in biotechnology. During his time in the RADD Lab, he contributed to research focused on autism and developmental disabilities by helping collect and organize data from our sensor project. Bravo Shreshta! We are so excited to celebrate you and your next academic chapter.
