LONGEVITY TIPS — Beyond the Supplement Aisle, and back to basics !!

Tip #1: Start a Garden 🌿🍅🌷🌺🌻🪷

Before you reach for the latest wellness trend, consider something timeless.

Pick up a trowel.
Gardening is the one activity found across every single Blue Zone — the five regions in the world where people consistently live past 100. Okinawa, Sardinia, Ikaria, Nicoya, Loma Linda. Different cultures, different diets, different climates. All of them garden.

Here's what the research tells us gardening does:

🌻 Reduces stress & improves mood — time in soil and sunlight is a natural antidepressant
🌻 Keeps joints moving — gentle, functional movement without the wear of high-impact exercise
🌻 Gets you outside & off your phone — fresh air and nature, not doomscrolling
🌻 Connects you to real food — you're more likely to eat well when you grow it yourself
🌻 Builds routine & purpose — a garden needs you every day, and that sense of purpose matters more than any pill

💡 The longest-lived people on Earth aren't chasing the next big health hack - they're pulling weeds, watering tomatoes, and staying connected to the ground beneath them.
You don't need a big yard. A few pots on a balcony count. Start small. Stay consistent.
The best longevity plan is the one you'll actually enjoy.

Stay tuned for Tip #2 in our Back to Basics series.

ASCO 2026 Highlights :

One of the most encouraging updates from the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting was the continued progress in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC).

Newer targeted therapies and immunotherapy combinations are delivering improved outcomes for patients with advanced disease, and recent data further reinforce the growing role of antibody-drug conjugates and personalized treatment strategies.

As a community oncology practice, what excites us the most is seeing these advances move beyond academic centers and into the communities where patients live. Cutting-edge cancer care shouldn't require extensive travel. Our goal is to bring evidence-based, state-of-the-art treatments to our patients - along with the personalized support they deserve.

Progress continues, and with it, more hope for patients and families facing breast cancer 🪷

ASCO 2026 HIGHLIGHTS

🌝 A Series for the Community — From Your Oncologist

Every year, over 45,000 oncologists, researchers, and cancer care professionals from around the world gather for one event: the ASCO Annual Meeting — the largest and most influential oncology conference on the planet.

For five days, the brightest minds in cancer research present their latest findings. Some are incremental. Some are promising. And once in a rare while — something happens that stops the room.
This year, that moment belonged to pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the hardest cancers we face. For decades, once patients progressed on first-line chemotherapy, the options were limited and the outcomes were devastating — most patients survived only 6 to 7 months.
At this year's ASCO, a new drug called daraxonrasib changed that story.
In a landmark phase III trial of 500 patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer, daraxonrasib — a first-in-class oral drug that targets the RAS protein, the very engine that drives over 90% of pancreatic cancers — doubled overall survival compared to standard chemotherapy:
📊 13.2 months vs. 6.6 months
📉 60% reduction in the risk of death
💊 Only 1.2% of patients had to stop treatment due to side effects (vs. 11.2% with chemo)
And it wasn't just about living longer. Patients on daraxonrasib had less pain and better quality of life — something that matters deeply to every patient and family we care for.

When the results were presented, the audience — thousands of oncologists, many of whom have sat with patients and families through the hardest conversations — rose for a standing ovation. Not just for the data, but for what it represents: that even in the cancers we've struggled with the most, science is finally catching up.

📌 What This Means for Our Patients:
For years, we've told pancreatic cancer patients that second-line options were limited. This changes the conversation. Daraxonrasib is an oral medication - no infusion chair needed and it works across nearly all pancreatic cancers because it targets the RAS mutations found in over 90% of cases.

This is what progress looks like. And this is why we keep fighting.

🔜 Stay tuned — every few days, I'll share another highlight from ASCO 2026 that matters for our community.
Next up: a game-changer in triple-negative breast cancer.

Our hearts are filled with gratitude after being included in such a beautiful support group experience centered around donkey cuddling. Watching our breast cancer survivors, patients and Lotus staff .....laugh, smile, connect, and simply feel joy was incredibly emotional and uplifting.

Moments like these remind us that healing in oncology extends beyond medicine alone. Animal-assisted therapy has long been recognized in medicine and oncology for its ability to support emotional well-being, reduce stress, reduce side effects and foster connection during difficult journeys. While direct research specifically involving donkey-assisted therapy may still be limited, that does not mean meaningful data will not emerge in the future. Experiences like this give us so much food for thought and perhaps even inspiration for future projects focused on innovative supportive care in oncology.

We are deeply thankful to this wonderful local business for creating thoughtful opportunities that support healing, comfort, and joy within our community. Supporting organizations doing this kind of compassionate work matters deeply.

Sometimes healing comes in the gentlest forms — soft nuzzles, quiet moments, and the simple gift of joy. 💛

We have always believed that what we put into our bodies is just as powerful as the treatments we provide—especially in oncology. As Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” That philosophy is at the very heart of how we care for our patients & our community. As an independent, patient-first practice, we are committed to supporting every part of our patients’ journey - and nutrition is foundational before, during, and after treatment.

That’s why we are truly thrilled to introduce Alice Lloyd to our practice - our in-house nutritionist ✨

Alice Lloyd, MS, CNS®, LDN brings a rare and beautiful blend of clinical expertise and real-world culinary experience. After nearly two decades in the food and hospitality world, she now dedicates her work to helping people nourish their bodies in ways that are practical, meaningful, and healing.

We are so excited that our patients will now have access to her expertise right here within LOTUS 🪷

What makes this truly special is not just her credentials - it’s her gift for meeting patients where they are. Through personalized consultations, hands - on recipe demonstrations, and simple, sustainable strategies, Alice transforms nutrition into something approachable, empowering, and deeply impactful.

And this is just the beginning…

Join Alice on May 21, 2026, for a special caregiver support session: Meal Prep for the Caregiver - because even those who give so much deserve to be nourished too 🤍

Welcome Alice !

Ending the week on a hopeful note🙏

As a community oncologist, pancreatic cancer is one of the hardest conversations we have with limited options, tough biology, and outcomes that haven’t meaningfully changed in far too long.

That’s why studies like RASolute-302 matter. More to come but exciting press release about Daraxonrasib (RMC-6236) attempts at taking a real shot at something we’ve been chasing for decades: directly targeting RAS, the engine driving most of these tumors - not just one mutation, but across variants. It has met primary and key secondary endpoints showing significant overall survival improvement in previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer.

It’s still a phase 3 trial. It still has to prove itself..... We’ve all seen promising signals not pan out before.

But after decades of incremental progress, even the possibility of a new, mechanism-driven option feels meaningful.

Grateful for the patients, Grateful for the science pushing forward
For the first time in a while, it feels like something different with better outcome might actually be on the horizon.
