This month, I lovingly remember my Auntie Emma L. Grissom and honor every person whose life has been touched by breast cancer.

To every survivor: We celebrate your strength.
To those who have passed away: We honor your lives, your courage, and the love you left behind.

May Auntie Emma’s memory and the memory of every loved one lost continue to inspire hope, compassion, and strength.

We're honored to be featured in this month's Lake Oconee Neighbors magazine! 📰

Our Founder & CEO, Angela W. Burton, CDP®, CDSGF®, wrote about something close to our hearts: the Lake Country Dementia Caregiver Support Group a free monthly gathering created so no local family has to navigate the dementia journey alone.

The group meets the second Thursday of each month at the Greene County Library in Greensboro, with meet & mingle from 10:30–10:50 AM and the session following. It's free and open to the community whether your loved one was recently diagnosed, you've been caregiving for years, or you simply want to understand dementia better.

As the days grow shorter, many families notice their loved one becomes more confused, anxious, or restless in the late afternoon and evening. There's a name for it — sundowning — and there are real, practical ways to ease it. Join us this month as we walk through what's happening and what helps.

💜 September is World Alzheimer’s Month 💜

Today’s Dementia Caregiver Support Group focused on Understanding Behavior—because when caring for someone living with dementia, behavior is often more than what we see on the surface.

A change in behavior may be a way of communicating fear, frustration, discomfort, confusion, an unmet need, or simply an inability to express what they are experiencing.

Instead of only asking, “How do I stop this behavior?” we can learn to ask, “What might this behavior be trying to tell me?”

That shift in perspective can change the way we provide care. 💜

During World Alzheimer’s Month, we’re continuing to educate, support caregivers, raise awareness, and create a community where families navigating dementia know they do not have to walk this journey alone.
