After over a decade of building, learning, growing, and putting everything I have into this craft, I’m incredibly excited to announce our brand-new location is in the works and hoping to be up and running next month! 🖤

Follow our pages for updates and still taking clients at the old location until October 15th.

This isn’t just a new address. It’s a new chapter.

For me, piercing has always been about much more than putting jewelry in someone’s body. It’s about education, safety, quality, trust, and creating an experience where you feel confident putting your body in someone else’s hands.

I believe you deserve to know why something is being recommended not just be told what to do. I believe in using high quality, body safe jewelry and proper techniques. I believe in taking the time to assess anatomy, discuss expectations, explain healing, and give you the information you need to make informed decisions about your own body.

Most importantly, I believe that professional piercing should be treated as a profession.

Over the years, I’ve seen the good, the bad, and unfortunately, some truly awful outcomes when proper standards are ignored. Those experiences have only reinforced why I care so much about doing things the right way.

This business was built on the idea that you shouldn’t have to choose between beautiful piercings and safe, responsible care. You deserve both.

And now, I get to bring that philosophy into a brand-new space.

🖤 NEW LOCATION
🖤 NEW SPACE
🖤 SAME STANDARDS
🖤 SAME PASSION
🖤 A WHOLE NEW CHAPTER

Whether you’ve been coming to me for years, you’re completely new to piercing, or you’ve been waiting for the right place to finally get that piercing you’ve always wanted I’d love to have you here!

So let me also say hi to all the new faces, my names Josh Mohr 🖤

I own essence and I can’t wait to bring all your inspirations to life!

Okay… BIG NEWS.

After four incredible years, Essence Body Art is officially moving into its own location on the WEST SIDE! 🎉

This opportunity came up and honestly… it was just too perfect to pass up. As Essence continues to grow, this feels like the natural next step for the business, and I am SO excited to finally have a space that is truly our own.

I have so much gratitude for everyone at Evelyn and for the time I’ve spent there. That space has been such an important part of Essence’s journey, and I’ll continue supporting them 100%. ❤️ But sometimes you just know when it’s time for the next chapter and this feels like exactly that.

And of course, because apparently I don’t know how to do anything without making it as chaotic as possible… this is happening while I’m also buying a house. 😂

So between closing on September 4th, moving, getting the new studio ready, and approximately 7,000 other things happening behind the scenes please bare with me through this crazy transition in my life! 🙏🏼

This move is a HUGE milestone for Essence Body Art, and I genuinely could not have gotten here without all of you. Every appointment, recommendation, share, review, jewelry purchase, conversation, and person who has trusted me with their body has helped build this business into what it is today.

And I have to give a massive shoutout to Travis Jerome Gorell, who gave me a space to grow when Essence was just getting started and has been in my corner since day one. Four years later, you’ve become a very close friend, and I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done for me and Essence. I’m excited to see what the future holds for you and your business, too. 🖤

It’s been one hell of a ride these last four years, and now…

Essence Body Art is leveling up.

I’ll be sharing ALL the behind-the-scenes chaos, progress, sneak peeks, and new details as we get closer to opening.

So stay tuned for the grand reopening!

And YES, there will absolutely be snacks. Obviously. 😂

Thank you for helping me build something I’m incredibly proud of.

New space. New chapter. Same Essence. 🖤

Hello friends! Someone sent this too us and it brought up a good point to make and we would love to give some education on the subject since it is commonly talked about.

This is not safe, and being a medical professional does not automatically mean someone is qualified or properly trained to perform body piercings.

The fact that they use piercing guns “they stated in comments” is exactly what concerns us. Piercing guns can cause unnecessary tissue trauma, and the jewelry commonly used with them is not designed with safe, professional piercing practices in mind. There are significant differences between properly performing a piercing with a sterile, single-use needle and using a piercing gun.

We have a lot of respect for medical professionals and the work they do, but piercing is a specialized skill that requires specific education, training, anatomy knowledge, sterile technique, appropriate equipment, and an understanding of jewelry and healing.

They need to leave professional piercing to trained piercers and focus on the medical care they are qualified to provide. When a medical facility offers piercings, people naturally assume that means the service is safe simply because it is being performed by medical professionals. That can create a false sense of security when proper piercing standards aren’t being followed. Basically you are all being lied too and it’s not cool.

People deserve accurate information and safe practices. This goes out to all of the medical professional who offer piercings especially with guns…Please do better!

Hello friends!

We hear constantly from clients questions about piercings, healing, jewelry, aftercare, anatomy, what’s normal, what’s not, and everything in between. And honestly, we LOVE your questions! They’re a huge part of how we educate and help people make informed decisions about their bodies.

Because we get so many of the same questions over and over, we wanted to create a dedicated space where all of that information could live. Somewhere you can come back to whenever you need it, rather than trying to find reliable answers buried in social media posts or random corners of the internet.

So… our blog is officially up and running with new posts! 🖤

The goal of the blog is to provide reputable, detailed, and easy to understand information that you can actually utilize to your advantage. We will be covering frequently asked questions, common misconceptions, piercing education, jewelry information, healing and aftercare, and plenty of other topics that come up in the studio.

Whether you’re a current client, someone considering getting pierced, or you’re simply curious and want to learn more, we hope this becomes a resource you can refer back to whenever you need it.

Education is such an important part of professional piercing, and our goal has always been to make sure our clients have the knowledge they need to feel confident and informed about their piercings.

Go check out the newest blog posts on the website!

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is getting to work with kids. They’ve become such a big part of our clientele, and we never take for granted the trust that so many families place in EBA. Being chosen to be part of such a special milestone is something we are truly grateful for. 🙏🏼

For many kids, this is their first experience choosing to do something that comes with a little discomfort in order to get something they’ve been looking forward to. Watching them build up the courage, take a deep breath, and realize they’re capable of doing hard things is an incredible thing to witness.

A great piercing experience is about so much more than just the awesome jewelry. It’s about making every child feel safe, listened to, respected, and in control throughout the entire process. Our goal is always to make it a positive memory they’ll look back on with confidence.

And seeing that huge smile when they finally look in the mirror, along with the relief and excitement on their parents’ faces never gets old. Those moments are exactly why we love what we do! 🖤

Jewelry quality is IMPORTANT. Proper training and education in body piercing from someone claiming to be a “professional” is IMPORTANT.
This piercing was done at a local studio using jewelry that was absolutely not safe for the body. The wearable surface was the exact same size as the rough decorative portion, which caused it to get stuck inside the piercing channel and literally tear the tissue up.
Do your research before trusting someone with your body. In Wisconsin, it’s unfortunately very easy to get a piercing license, and a license alone does not equal experience, education, or quality. That’s how a lot of studios fool people into thinking they’re reputable professionals while taking your money and setting you up for complications, irritation, or piercings that never properly heal.
I was able to switch this jewelry to something made out of high quality, properly fitted for an initial piercing, and actually safe for the body and look at how much better it already doing!

Remember friends, you get what you pay for. A $25 piercing is rarely a good idea unless you’re comfortable rolling the dice with your body’s health and safety.

Ask yourself:
what corners are being cut for them to charge that little while still making a profit? Usually it’s cheaper jewelry, poor quality materials, lack of proper education, rushed procedures, or unsafe practices behind the scenes.
Your body deserves better than bargain-bin body art. Quality jewelry, proper sterilization, experience, and safe piercing practices all cost money for a reason.
