BRUCE IS RETIRING! We are excited to find the right fit to replace him. See below for more details and how to apply.

FRONT DESK PATIENT CARE COORDINATOR – WILL TRAIN

We are looking for someone who wants more satisfaction out of their career and who wants to function in a positive work environment. We will train the right person as needed.
The office is very busy and is an optometric specialty practice (vision therapy). We work with many children, as well as adults with significant vision difficulties. We need a patient care coordinator to manage the front desk, to also help with patient care and administrative responsibilities.
Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills required, including pleasant phone personality. Must possess a mature, flexible attitude, strong attention to detail and ability to follow-up. Must have experience using MS Office, especially Word and Excel. Some knowledge of billing and insurance for a healthcare practice would be helpful but not required. Must be a quick learner; sales experience a plus but not required.
Hours are Monday – Thursday 1 pm to 7pm, Friday 10 am – 5 pm. Hours can vary depending on our patient schedule. Full time may become available in the future. Position to start in early September. Our office is located in the heart of Ebensburg.
Other qualities that we are looking for include someone who is sharp and able to multi-task, comfortable collecting payments from patients and a positive, upbeat personality.

Congratulations, Evalynn!

Evalynn shared, "Before was having problems with reading, seeing the board at school, and looking at a target. My experience was great, and everyone here is nice and kind and would love to help you see better. Now that I can see, I love to read."

Her mom said reading was difficult for Evalynn. The board at school was blurry, and she was struggling with her vision. Vision Therapy has helped so very much. Miss Amy kept therapy sessions fun and engaging so Evalynn could learn all new skills to help her vision. Since the completion of Therapy, Evalynn is much more confident and loves to read!"

Congratulations, Anna!!

Her mom shares:
Anna has always been a bright little girl, but as a reading specialist, I knew she should be further along with her reading in first grade given the amount of support she received. After consulting with her eye doctor, we determined that further intervention was needed. Vision therapy not only helped improve her reading fluency, but it also helped improve her confidence in reading aloud. She worked so hard with Ms. Amy and at home, and her end of the year reading scores were well above benchmark. We are so proud of her and so thankful for Dr. Nora and Ms. Amy. We look forward to her entering the new school year with confidence and continued success.

FIVE years ago to the day, we opened the doors of KVDC! It has been an incredible journey. We have learned so much in that time and I'd just like to say thank you to everyone who has been along for the ride.

To my patients: thank you for allowing me to take part in your story. My favorite part of my job is helping someone become who they want to be. It is amazing watching a child come out of their shell and gain confidence or seeing a concussion patient feel comfortable again. You make coming to work a joy!

To my therapists: I could not do this alone! I have an amazing team that allows me to do what I love professionally and still be present at home. Amy and Lizzy are engaging, hard working, passionate, and are always striving to learn more and become better for their patients. We are truly blessed to work with you.

To my dad: many of you know that Bruce, our patient care coordinator/office manager/ front desk worker is also my father. He has been my number one fan for as long as I can remember. He drove me to my optometry school interview in a snow storm. He encouraged me to start my own office when no one wanted to add Vision Therapy to their practice. He has been the office nanny for 2 babies, changing diapers and walking the halls to keep the crying minimal. And he comes in early and stays late. It will be very difficult to replace him when he retires in December!

To my husband: Thank you for encouraging me to move to Canada with a 6 week old to do my residency. Our lives were forever changed because of your support. Thank you for picking up the kids and never complaining when I need to work late.

To my amazing in-laws: Without their help with childcare I could not come to work everyday and give my attention to my patients. They have always been so supportive. Thank you!

Thank you for the gift of the last 5 years. I look forward to many more years of helping our community!

If you are a current or past patient, we want to hear from you! How are you doing? How is life going outside of the VT room?

Congratulations to Ben on all his hard work!

He said, "Before Vision Therapy, I was having problems with reading, playing baseball, and looking at the board in school. Now, all of that is a lot easier!"

Ben's mom shared, "Ben wasn't reading accurately. Reading was extremely frustrating for him. As therapy went on, we noticed a remarkable improvement in fluency and accuracy. His standardized reading scores increased from below benchmark to above benchmark. We are very happy with his progress."

Lina! We are so proud of you!!

Before Vision Therapy, Lina was having problems with "reading and crossing my eyes. Now I can see much better and I can read without getting a headache. I am also doing a lot better in school and can now cross my eyes!"

Her mom shared: "Lina had problems with confidence in school. Reading was a struggle, not a joy. With Vision Therapy, Lina has improved not just her eyes but her overall confidence in school, lacrosse, and dance. She can roll her eyes at her mom now. 😁 Highly recommend KVDC, Dr. Conway and her wonderful crew!"

We've gotten a bit behind on our graduation photos. 🫣 So, help us celebrate these hard-working patients who finished their programs in June!

Sue came to us complaining of blurred and double vision. She was struggling with daily tasks and was very tired after work.

"VT was great, and not only did my vision improve, but my eye is physically straight again. It’s improved my work production in getting tasks done quicker since I can see better. I highly recommend your facility and staff was awesome too! We got the job done and had a fun time doing it as well! Miss you all!!!! All great people working there!!!!"

Congratulations, Wyatt!!

Before Vision Therapy, Wyatt was having problems with double vision, "but now I am able to read a book with no interruptions. If you are thinking about not wanting to do this, do it! I was the same way. But now that it's over, I can tell it helped a lot."

His mom shared: "Wyatt had trouble focusing and reading at school. He was apprehensive to begin therapy, but after starting, he realized how the improvements in his vision positively impacted so many areas of his life. He enjoys reading again! We are looking forward to his transition to junior high next year."

We are so proud of all your hard work! Thank you for trusting the process and allowing us to be a part of your success!
