Some providers don’t really believe in aspirating which I think is pretty silly. If there’s a step I can take to even slightly reduce a patient’s risk of a complication, why wouldn’t I do it?

Believe me. I was surprised to see that blood in the syringe because the reality is, it’s a low likelihood that you’ll actually get the needle inside a vessel. But it’s also not 0%. So I’m super glad my provider didn’t skip this step!

Just because I’m the one doing the injecting doesn’t mean that sitting in the chair is not uncomfortable for me too.

These are the things you can expect from me to make your experience and treatment as comfortable as possible.

Social media tends to show you the marathon results after months and months of treatments but not the process. So I think it’s good to see how doing small treatments add up over time.

The key to understanding those wow before/afters is that it takes time AND multiple modalities…Tox, filler, biostimulators and skin treatments etc etc.

Here, we did a small amount of temple and cheek filler. Still meaningful but subtle and as a first time filler patient, it was the best place to start.

I GET IT.

Filler scares the s**t out of you. The overstuffed faces looking like sausages out there and you’re convinced that will be you too if you open the can of worns that is filler. I promise you that’s not the case.

The filler phobia is not bc the filler failed but bc the injector failed the patient.

When we only treat in isolation like filling the cheeks over and over and over again, without any restraint or assessment of a patients actual aging process over time, then yes people start looking odd. Wrong product. Wrong tissue plane. Wrong timing.

My approach is pretty systematic and involves assessing the face in it’s entirety so we don’t end up having beatiful lips while the cheeks and area around the lips can’t support it (think of the 60 yr with these beautiful, youthful lips while everything else doesn’t match)

It’s facial balancing and it requires seeing the big picture to get natural and undetectable results.

If you’ve seen me for any injectables treatment, you know that I don’t just change your entire skin care regimen if most of it is working well for you.

There are some things that don’t necessarily need to be professional grade, but vitamin C is just not one of them.

It’s expensive for a reason.

The formulation, stabilization and packaging all matter immensely. So save in other products like your cleanser and moisturizer but invest in a vitamin C to protect the treatments your doing in my chair.

Did you know Vit C was this complicated?

Sorry friends, but demographics alone are not enough to make a diagnosis and treatment plan 🤔

This is not to call out anyone specifically, but to say that we should be doing better here bc I see it all the time and it is a HUGE pet peeve.

Patients need an exam.
A medical history.
A budget.
A lifestyle assessment.
An understanding of their current routine.

Yes I can give some very generic recommendations and educate but that’s kind of it. Giving an entire treatment plan and regimen like this is not individualized care.

It’s selling.

And it’s why patients think that skincare isn’t part of the treatment plan. It’s just shopping to them and we’re partially to blame for that mindset.

Let’s do better.
