Free Narcan is now available through five vending machines across Hidalgo County.
Today, we officially kicked off this initiative with the Hidalgo County DA HIDTA Task Force and Behavioral Health Solutions of South Texas. The first machine has been operating at the Hidalgo County Adult Probation Office since November 2025. Four additional machines are now available at our clinics in Edinburg, McAllen, Weslaco and Elsa.
An opioid overdose can happen to anyone, including someone taking prescription opioids or unknowingly exposed to fentanyl. Naloxone can help reverse an opioid overdose, but it does not replace emergency medical care. Call 911 immediately after administering it.
Naloxone is provided at no cost through Naloxone Texas with federal funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. We ask residents to take only what they need so supplies remain available for others.
