Bear with me here, for this is going to be a long post—but it’s super informative, and you’re gonna WANT to know THIS!!

✨ So…what exactly did I learn in CranioSacral Therapy 1? ✨

The easiest explanation is this:

Your body has its own subtle rhythm—and just like your breathing or heartbeat, that rhythm can give us information about where your body is moving freely and where it may be holding tension, restriction, or protection.

CranioSacral Therapy is a very gentle, hands-on technique that works with the tissues and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. That system extends from the bones of the skull, down through the spine, and into the sacrum at the base of the spine.

But let me really dumb it down, because when people hear “craniosacral,” they usually assume I’m either massaging your head or performing some type of skull sorcery. 😂

Imagine your brain and spinal cord are surrounded by a protective, fluid-filled sleeve. That sleeve is made of connective tissue called the dura mater. It runs from inside the skull, down the spinal canal, and attaches near the sacrum.

Now imagine that sleeve is supposed to move and adapt freely—but tension somewhere in the body is tugging on it.

That tension could be influenced by things such as:

• Old injuries
• Falls, accidents, or whiplash
• Surgeries or scar tissue
• Repetitive movements
• Jaw clenching
• Chronic stress
• Protective holding patterns
• Physical or emotional overwhelm
• Areas of the body that have been compensating for a long time

Because everything in the body is connected through fascia and connective tissue, a restriction in one area can affect movement somewhere completely different.

That means the place where you feel discomfort is not always the place where the original restriction began.

Your shoulder may hurt, but your body may guide me toward your ribs.

Your low back may feel tight, but your pelvis may not be moving evenly.

Your jaw may be clenched while your neck and the base of your skull are doing everything they can to compensate.

This work taught me to stop chasing only the loudest symptom and begin listening to the entire system.

During CS1, I learned how to gently assess the craniosacral rhythm throughout the body. I’m feeling for things such as:

• The quality of the rhythm
• Whether both sides move evenly
• Where the motion feels restricted
• Where the tissues feel guarded
• Where the body naturally draws my attention
• How one area changes when another area releases

And when I say “gently,” I mean GENTLY.

CranioSacral Therapy generally uses about five grams of pressure—roughly the weight of a nickel.

For someone accustomed to deep-tissue massage, it may feel like I’m barely doing anything. But this work is not about overpowering the body, forcing a muscle to release, or digging harder until the tissue gives up.

It is about giving the nervous system enough safety, time, and support that the body no longer feels like it has to fight.

That was probably one of the biggest lessons for me:

More pressure does not always create more change.

Sometimes the body has been pushed, stretched, adjusted, manipulated, and forced for so long that what it actually needs is for someone to slow down and listen.

In CS1, I learned a full-body approach that may include gently working with:

• The feet and legs
• The pelvis and sacrum
• The respiratory diaphragm
• The rib cage
• The base of the neck
• The bones and membranes of the skull
• The jaw and surrounding structures
• The tissues associated with the brain and spinal cord

We also learned techniques intended to encourage better mobility through important areas of the body where fascia, nerves, blood vessels, and other structures pass.

One example is the diaphragm.

Most people think of the diaphragm only as the breathing muscle, but the body has several areas that function like horizontal “crossroads.” When those areas are restricted, tension can be transmitted above and below them.

Think about twisting a bedsheet.

The wrinkle does not necessarily stay where you first grabbed it. The tension travels through the entire sheet.

Your connective tissue can behave similarly.

By gently helping those restrictions soften, we give the rest of the system more opportunity to reorganize.

Another technique we learned is called a stillpoint.

A stillpoint is a temporary therapeutic pause in the craniosacral rhythm. It is not something I force. It is more like giving the system an opportunity to stop, reset, and reorganize.

People may experience that pause as:

• A deep breath or sigh
• Swallowing
• Stomach noises
• Heat or coolness
• Tingling or pulsing
• Muscles softening
• A feeling of heaviness
• A floating sensation
• Emotional movement
• Deep relaxation
• Falling asleep
• Or absolutely nothing dramatic at all

And “nothing dramatic” does not mean nothing is happening.

Some bodies release with a huge sigh, twitch, temperature change, or emotional response.

Other bodies quietly soften one layer at a time.

The goal is not to manufacture a reaction. The goal is to listen to what that particular body is ready to do.

One of the most fascinating things I learned was how to follow the body instead of deciding ahead of time what it needs.

If tissue begins moving in a certain direction, I can gently follow it.

If the body pauses, I wait.

If an area begins unwinding, I support it without trying to control where it goes.

If the system says, “That’s enough for today,” I respect that too.

This is very different from approaching a session with the mindset of:

“Your shoulder hurts, so I’m going to attack your shoulder.”

Instead, the question becomes:

“What is your body showing me, and what happens when I give it the space to respond?”

CS1 also helped me better understand something I have already witnessed repeatedly in my work:

The body protects us.

Muscles do not always tighten because they are simply “knotted.” Sometimes they tighten because the nervous system believes that tension is necessary for stability or protection.

If I force that tissue before the body feels safe enough to let go, it may resist, tighten again, or create another compensation somewhere else.

CranioSacral Therapy does not treat the body like it is being difficult.

It treats the body like it has a reason.

That sentence alone shifted how I look at everything.

A CranioSacral session will not necessarily look or feel like a traditional massage. You remain fully clothed, no lotion or oil is required, and most of the work is quiet and subtle.

I may hold one area for several minutes because I am waiting for the tissue to respond—not because I forgot what I was doing. 😂

You may wonder how such light pressure could possibly create change. The simplest comparison is this:

If you are trying to hear a whisper, you do not turn up more noise.

You get quieter.

That is essentially what I am learning to do with the body.

I am learning to quiet my own agenda, soften my hands, feel what is happening beneath the surface, and allow your system to show me where it needs support.

People seek CranioSacral Therapy for many different reasons, including wanting support with relaxation, stress patterns, headaches, jaw tension, neck or back discomfort, general body tension, and recovery from the physical strain of everyday life.

Every person’s experience will be different, and CST is not about promising a magical cure.

It is about creating an environment where the body has more room to self-correct, settle, and communicate.

And no—I did not complete one weekend and suddenly become an expert on the brain, nervous system, and every mystery stored inside the human body. 😂 CS1 gave me the foundation. Now comes the practice, repetition, continued education, and learning how different bodies respond.

But this training confirmed exactly why I have been pulled toward nervous-system work.

I have spent years learning how to work deeply.

Now I am learning how to listen deeply.

I am still going to be me. I am still bringing my knowledge of massage, energy work, intuition, nervous-system regulation, and everything I have learned from the thousands of hours my hands have spent on bodies.

CranioSacral Therapy is not replacing all of that.

It is giving me another language for understanding what I have already been feeling—and another way to help without always having to push harder.

This is where my work is evolving:

Less fighting the body.

Less assuming that pain automatically needs more pressure.

Less forcing an outcome.

More listening.

More patience.

More respect for the body’s protective patterns.

More attention to the nervous system.

More trust in the intelligence of the person lying on my table.

CS1 was only the beginning, but it changed the way I understand touch.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer the body is not more force.

Sometimes it is finally being quiet enough to hear what the body has been trying to say. ✨

And because apparently completing one intense course wasn’t enough, I registered for the next level before I even made it home. 🤣 This is officially becoming a whole new path for me—and honestly, it feels like the work I’ve been moving toward without having the proper name or framework for it yet.

When I told all of you that I was going to CranioSacral training…. 🤯🤯🤯 I was NOT prepared for what I would learn. But I am SO glad I did! Here is an article explaining just what I’ve been learning. All I have to say is I’m gonna need some bodies to work on so I can get signed up for the 2nd level!!! This has been so eye opening and expansive in how I look and feel the body.

A growing body of research on the craniosacral rhythm (CSR) is working to validate what has been palpated for decades—the CSR is a distinct and measurable physiological rhythm that has given way to its own distinct therapeutic discipline.

⭐️ I NEED A LITTLE FACEBOOK FAVOR! ⭐️

Apparently Facebook has decided that 4 amazing recommendations are not enough to actually give Touch of Marigold Wellness a rating. 🙄😂

So if you’ve had a session with me — whether it was massage/bodywork, energy work, nervous system work, cranial therapy, or one of those sessions where you walked out wondering “what the hell did she just do to me?” 😂 — I would LOVE if you’d leave my page a recommendation.

Because Facebook likes to make everything harder than necessary, here are the directions:

1. Go to the Touch of Marigold Wellness page.
2. Tap Reviews.
If you don’t see it immediately, tap “More” and look for Reviews.
3. Facebook will ask something along the lines of “Do you recommend Touch of Marigold Wellness?”
4. Tap YES 💚
5. Write a few words about your experience.
6. Make sure the post/recommendation is PUBLIC so Facebook can actually count it.
7. Hit Post.

✨ IMPORTANT: Commenting your review underneath THIS post does not count as a Facebook Recommendation. You have to go through the Reviews section of my business page.

It doesn’t need to be long or fancy. Tell people what you experienced, how you felt afterward, what keeps you coming back, or what you would tell someone who’s considering booking with me.

I have 1.1K of you following this page and Facebook is over here judging me based on FOUR people. 😂

Help me fix that.

And THANK YOU to every single person who has trusted me with their body, energy, nervous system, healing, stories and all the beautifully weird things that happen on my table. 🖤✨

I just had a 2:00 open up for TODAY in DIETERICH!!! Who wants it!!!??
