The backup sorbent layer.

What does this smaller section do?

👉It helps detect sample breakthrough, when chemical v***rs or gases pass through the primary sorbent section without being retained.

👉During laboratory analysis, the amounts collected on the primary and backup sections help evaluate whether breakthrough occurred and whether the sample is valid.

It's a small section with an important role in supporting defensible sampling data.
