Hold on to those people who value and respect you for exactly who you are. They don’t take advantage and they don’t try to break you. Just honest and genuine.

The Flavor of the Month scenario happens when someone quickly shifts their attention from a favorite or close friendship/relationship to a new favorite. The rotation tends to come swiftly and unexpectedly as someone new captivates their interest. This emphasizes idealization, preferential treatment and obsessive focus until the person they are focused on becomes “old news” and is swiftly replaced by a new person of intrigue. The grandiose attention shift can come as a heartbreaking slap to those who did not expect this sudden shift to happen.

Sometimes what hurts more than the sting of rejection is the way in which someone communicates it with you. Keeping someone at arms length never feels good knowing that there is a barrier that is greater than they let on. Under the surface divides will always be uncovered when authentic connection is prized above all else. Ghosting is confusing and insincerity is hurtful. Honesty is always best. ♥️

Break free from abusive relationship cycles. Recognize the signs. 1. Honeymoon Stage-Building intensity and excitement for a budding new relationship 2. Idealization-your partner can seemingly “do no wrong,” they are charming and stimulating and free. You are showered with affection and admiration. 3. Devaluation- Cutting remarks, degrading criticism, devaluation of your worth or character, smear campaign 4. Discard- usually quick and leaves you reeling, rapid replacement and abandonment of the relationship 5. Hoovering- the abusive partner may return and try to make amends, make promises of change and reunite before the cycle repeats again.
