Longer days mean more road trips, vacations, motorcycles, bicycles, and kids enjoying summer break. Before you hit the road, remember these simple ways to keep everyone safe:

✅ Buckle up every trip, every seat.
📱 Put your phone away while driving.
🚸 Watch for children playing near roads and neighborhoods.
🚴 Give cyclists at least 3 feet of space when passing.
🏍️ Double-check for motorcycles before changing lanes.
🚫 Never drive impaired or while overly tired.

A few extra seconds of attention can prevent a lifetime of regret.

Let's make June a month of safe travels for everyone in Cedar County.

Tomorrow, June 6th, is Naloxone Awareness Day.

Naloxone (Narcan) is a life-saving medication that can help restore breathing during an opioid-related emergency. Raising awareness and increasing knowledge about naloxone helps strengthen community preparedness and supports public health.

The Cedar County Health Department has free naloxone available 24/7 from naloxone distribution boxes located outside the Cedar County Health Department and the Cedar County Courthouse.

‼️Don’t forget—Call or stop by to schedule.

With summer approaching and the next school year not far behind, now is a great time to plan ahead.

If your family plans to have your child vaccinated for school, we encourage you to schedule those appointments early. Each year we see a rush of appointments right before school starts, and scheduling ahead can help families avoid the last-minute scramble.

This is especially helpful for students entering Kindergarten, 8th grade, or 12th grade, when additional vaccines are commonly recommended for school-aged children.

📞 To schedule an appointment with the Cedar County Health Department, please call (417) 876-5477.

What you can do:
-Spread the word: Talk to your friends and family about the risks.
