September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
This month, we shine a light on prostate cancer and the importance of taking charge of men's health.

Did you know?
✔ About 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime.
✔ When detected early, prostate cancer is highly treatable.

Knowing your risk and talking with your healthcare provider about screening can make all the difference. If you are over 50 or over 45 with a family history or other risk factors, it may be time to start the conversation.
At Desert Imaging, we believe that awareness leads to action, and action saves lives. Throughout September, we'll be sharing helpful information, facts, and reminders to encourage early detection.
Together, let's raise awareness and support the men we care about.

A Breast Self-Exam (BSE) is a simple method women can use to check for any unusual changes in their breasts. It is recommended to perform this exam once a month, ideally a few days after the menstrual cycle ends (when breasts are less tender or swollen). For postmenopausal women, choosing a fixed date each month is advisable.
https://www.dielp.com/bse.html
Steps for Performing a Breast Self-Exam (BSE):

1. In Front of a Mirror (Visual Inspection)
→Stand straight with arms at your sides.
→Look for any changes in shape, size, or contour.
→Observe for dimpling, puckering, swelling, or changes in the ni**le.
→Raise your arms above your head and check for the same changes.
→Press your hands on your hips and tighten your chest muscles to examine any irregularities.

2. While Standing or in the Shower (Manual Inspection)
→Raise one arm and use the opposite hand to feel the breast.
→Use the pads of your three middle fingers, not the fingertips.
→Apply light, medium, and firm pressure to examine different layers of breast tissue.
→Move in a circular, up-and-down (vertical), or wedge pattern to cover the entire breast.
→Check for lumps, thickening, or any unusual hardness.
→Gently squeeze the ni**le to check for discharge.

3. Lying Down (Deeper Manual Examination)
→Lie flat on your back with a pillow under one shoulder.
→Place the arm of the examined side behind your head.
→Use the opposite hand to feel the breast using the same technique as in the shower.
→Repeat for the other breast.

What to Look For?
→Lumps or hard knots
→Changes in breast size or shape
→Swelling or redness
→Nipple changes (inversion, discharge, or crusting)
→Pain in one spot that doesn't go away

When to See a Doctor?
If you notice any new or unusual changes, schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider. While many lumps are benign (non-cancerous), it’s always best to get them checked.

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Scientists just put dogs in MRI machines (they trained them to lie perfectly still for 10 minutes- total good boys and girls) and found something wild: their brains don't just register "happy" vs. "not happy." They can actually tell the difference between your fear, sadness, and anger.

A happy face lights up the same reward center that fires when they're expecting a treat or hear "good dog." But sadness and fear trigger a totally different part of the brain than anger does.

The same technology that helps us care for our community is also helping us understand our furry loved ones a little better.

Post a picture of your dog, who always seems to know, in the comments!

A recent study found that man’s best friend processes positive and negative human emotions differently and can distinguish between fearful faces and those showing sadness or anger
