I love his perspective so much!

The actor Andrew Garfield, who has been open about dealing with the grief of losing his mom to cancer, talked about love, loss and longing on "Modern Love." The result was a conversation unlike any other in the history of the show. https://nyti.ms/4eZ3TPy

There is a purpose in grief.

It nourishes your spirit as you transition from life as you knew it to your new normal.

It's a space creator that gives you room to adjust and adapt.

To reinvent.

It’s an illusion imploder.

When someone or something you love and value so much is gone...

Grief reveals instantaneously what you care about.

The act of grieving is a quiet rebellion.

It’s self-care at the highest level.

It’s making you and your health a priority.

And not paying attention to arbitrary deadlines that don't matter and aren't real.

When you open yourself up to grief and allow it to inform your choices, it will take you to places your rational brain could never conceive.

I am a living, breathing example of what that looks like.

I know it's possible for you, too.

“Being an artist is this kind of occupation in which you have to make people care about your obsession.” - Bruce Springsteen

Did the boss call me an artist? 🥹

When I get people to care about my obsession, it’s a life-altering experience for both of us.

Because my art is showing myself and those who are interested that life with grief is not only doable but can be:

-inspiring
-beautiful
-fulfilling
-purposeful

Seeing Bruce Springsteen in concert is my kind of church.

It reminds me of my divinity and humanity that coexist.

That’s also my art, to remind you of yours.

It’s not that my mom wouldn't be proud of where I am today.

I know she would have worried.

She would have been upset when I quit my job two months after she died.

She was famous for saying, “The easiest way to get a job is to have one already.”

She was perplexed when I turned down an offer during a period when I didn't have much going on.

And I understand that she was a concerned mother that was doing her parental duty.

But she didn’t see what was brewing.

(Truthfully, neither did I!)

All I knew was that I had strong pulls that were leading me out of a cubicle and into the world.

I’m not going to say entrepreneurship is easy, but in the wake of grieving the loves of my life, it gave me a place to put this energy and make something from it.

I work for my clients, and I see them change their lives for the better in real time.

I no longer have to appear before a faceless entity and make some rich guy richer.

felt Write saved my life.

Even though Mom might have had reservations, she would have been my biggest cheerleader.

She is my biggest cheerleader; I hear her voice in my head, “C’mon, Emmy!” she gets to do that from the great beyond.

Felt Write turns five (one whole hand!) at the end of this month, and her spirit has been with me since day one of this adventure.

You don't think you’re grieving.

Or maybe you think your grief isn't valid because of ______.

(whatever story someone told you)

You never have to justify your emotions with me.

Because I don't participate in the hierarchy.

There is no competition.

No grief is too little or too big to coach on.

No timeline’s too soon or too late to meet you.

It’s all welcome here.

Once you have the space and freedom to tell the truth about your feelings, the processing can begin.

When that happens, you start to let go of what you have held on to tightly for so long.

You begin to feel better and cultivate an emotional resilience rooted in dealing with things head-on and heart-on.

People confuse avoidance and resilience all the time.

I can say that confidently because I was once “people.”

Avoiding grief kicks it down the road.

It isn't going anywhere.

When we work together, I show you there is room for grief and joy.

And that moving forward doesn't mean that you are moving on.

Your grief will always be with you; our work together gives grief its rightful place with you as you continue to live your life.

Let’s normalize not pathologizing grief.

If grief is present, so is adversity.

And even though the world keeps spinning, yours has slowed down.

Maybe to a complete stop.

You have to actively carve out time and room for this experience.

Because no institution or person can or will do it for you.

We’ve accepted so much as “it is what it is,” and I get that.

But it doesn't mean you have to surrender to the faulty systems and institutions at the expense of yourself.

I support my clients in feeling their grief and beginning to heal.

I help them figure out the best way to alchemize their pain and use it as fuel to move forward.

And I do so without judging their choices or emotions.

All that would do is put another block to work through on the way to clarity.

I'm not another voice in the sea of opinions telling you what you should or should not do.

I'm ears and a heart space.

Where you can work through, connect dots, and come to your conclusions in peace.

Getting started is a DM away, or you can book a consult through my link on my page.

I can’t wait to work with you. 💚

Grief made me brave:
It encouraged me to face my mortality.

Grief made me soft:
It broke me open and smoothed out my rough edges.

Grief made me go inward:
It inspired a new level of introspection.

Grief made me walk away:
From people, places, and situations that drained me.

Grief made me take care of myself:
I am here, and I am worth it.

Grief made me remember:
That life was mine to create.

Grief made me honor all of my humanity:
That loss is just as important a part of life as gain.

Grief made me an entrepreneur:
I was no longer willing to be in work environments that expected the world and gave little in return.

Grief made me grateful.
First, it broke my heart, and then it filled in the cracks with gratitude.

If you want and are willing to explore how grief can transform your life and bring healing, I invite you to send me a DM or book a consultation from the link on my page.

What do you want to do with your grief? We get to answer this question together.

When my sister was in hospice, I tried to manipulate time.

I met with the powers that be at my job to create a schedule where I would work 10 hours a day instead of 8 to condense my work week and get consecutive days with her instead of hours.

Even though I had a laptop and could work from anywhere, that wasn’t an option.

The first week of my new schedule, my sister’s husband called me and told me it was time. At this point, her cancer made its tour, going from breast to lung, to brain, to spinal cord fluid.

Her body was clocking out.

I got up from my desk and, as my voice shook, told the office I was leaving.

It was time.

My brother-in-law and boss deliberately slowed down their speech to articulate that I had to take my time making the three-hour drive to get to her.

I understood that no matter how slow or fast I went, there would never be enough time when my sister was dying at forty-two.

And I knew no job was ever going to take precedence over my humanity, ever.

Because I am a human first before anything.

My work now requires my humanness to be front and center. I help my clients prioritize their finite time and spend it confidently in places they choose.

And I’m having the time of my life doing it.

Your life is happening right now.

What’s the worst thing that can happen if you reach out for a virtual coffee?

Or book that consultation to expedite whatever results you are looking to create.

What if you asked your boss for that long overdue promotion?

What if you proudly marketed yourself more and positioned yourself as an expert?

Or you finally started the job search because you are so done with your current place of work.

Whatever the action you are resisting is because you are afraid of rejection coupled with fear of change.

What if you completely revamped your relationship to the word no.

And that the key to having anything you want is strengthening and expanding your no tolerance.

What if you were as bold as the folks sliding into your DMs unsolicited to sell you stuff?

There are people in the world right now who know a lot less than you, and yet it's not holding them back one iota from going after what they want.

There is no such thing as the right time.

There is only right now.

And I can’t wait to hear all about what you do! https://calendly.com/feltwrite

Twenty years ago, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was released.

Have you seen it?

It’s so good.

Jim Carey and Kate Winslet play this couple who breaks up.

She decides to have this mind-altering procedure done where she forgets all her memories of him.

He finds out she’s doing this and decides to do the same.

However, during it, he changes his mind because he starts to relive the good memories, and he doesn’t want to forget her.

A reminder: The sweet is never as sweet without the sour. (from another movie, can you name it?)

I collaborate with my clients to have an Eternal Rainbow of the Resilient Mind.

The primary emotion I focus on is grief because when you can healthily feel, process, release, heal, and repeat with grief, you can do it with any emotion.

You get to learn and repurpose your pain without wishing it away.

And do something with it.

For me, it was starting felt Write

We do this work for a minimum of six months.

For an average lifespan of 77 years, that's less than 1% of your time here focused on emotional health and management.

The ROI on that is immeasurable! The limit does not exist! (last movie reference, I promise)

Besides feeling better overall, you build self-trust, gain confidence, and let go of any coulda, woulda, shoulda.

It's an enlightening and empowering place to be.

If you’ve been thinking about getting a coach because you’re tired of doing the same thing and not getting the desired result, book a consult here: https://calendly.com/feltwrite/grief-coaching-consultation?back=1&month=2023-11

We spend this time getting to know each other, asking and answering questions, and seeing if we are a good fit to work together.

See you soon. 💚
