There Is No Magic Pill
Recently on social media. some misinformation has been circulating. Someone claimed they have Celiac Disease, and eat all the gluten they want, while taking GlutenEase.
THIS IS FALSE INFORMATION.
Their website specifically states "This product is not intended to replace a gluten-free diet for individuals with Celiac Disease.
Elsewhere on their page it states, "GlutenEase was designed for individuals with gluten intolerance and was never intended to “cure” celiac or any other known disease."
Furthermore, the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center ( ) has this to say about GlutenEase, when asked if it offers protection against accidentally ingesting gluten.
"We put no validity in these supplements. In fact, they may offer a false sense of protection when they provide no protection at all." May, 2013
In a 2017 article about these types of digestive enzymes on the market, they state, "Some enzymes can successfully degrade the harmful gluten amino acid sequences in the laboratory, but they DON'T WORK in the acidic environment of the stomach."
There are doctors and pharmaceutical companies that ARE trying to find a medication that could help treate Celiac Disease. However, there is nothing that is FDA approved at this time.
Certain drugs in testing looked promising, but they did not prevent intestinal damage from occuring. So we're kind of back to the drawing board at this point.
And always remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
In those circumstances, let's try to educate where there is misunderstanding. Do so with integrity and sincerity, so that those who may disagree can not fault our facts based on our character.
