Hope Within Community Health, Counseling & Dental Center A Christ-centered free primary medical care & dental clinic serving Dauphin, Lancaster & Lebanon Co.

Hope Within is a free primary care health center, donation-based primary dental care and low-cost counseling center. Using volunteer providers, we we meet the primary health needs of the residents of Dauphin, Lancaster or Lebanon counties who are financially eligible for our services. (250 FPL) Counseling is available at low cost using a very generous sliding scale based on income and need.

🗺️ What is Taste of the Nations? 🗺️

Come travel the world with us without leaving Lancaster County.

Have you heard of this event yet? It is one you DO NOT want to miss! Taste of the Nations is a fun opportunity for us to share updates on the ministry as well as tasty foods and testimony. The event is designed to provide food tastings from various countries from which Hope Within has derived its patient base from in addition to residents of Lancaster, Lebanon and Dauphin Counties.

We have volunteers create a dish from their corresponding country or specified cuisine. Some of them were previous patients who find joy in giving back in this way and others were missionaries in the country that they choose to represent. As our guest, you would have the opportunity to visit each food table to sample a food from the country it represents. The events of the evening include a silent auction, dessert, friends and food!

When? October 1, 2026 from 5:30pm to 8pm
Where? Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church
How Much? $35 per person until 9/30/2026 or until Sold out so get them soon!

Thailand
Ukraine
Caribbean
Russia
Ethiopia
China
India
Afghanistan

Our partnership with Penn State has been a blessing to Hope Within Ministry. We have the opportunity to work with them through wonderful clinicians who volunteer on their time of work to care for our patients here at the clinic. Our patients are able to receive some much needed diagnostic testing and lab work when we are not always able to. Day of Caring through the United Way has allowed for some Penn State employees to volunteer here with our team in order to assist with tasks. Connections with partners like Penn State, provide opportunities and resources that allow us to increase our impact to provide quality healthcare to our community.

🏆 It’s Team Tuesday!!! 🏆

For this series, we’d like to highlight the Hope Within staff and allow our followers and supporters to get to know each staff member other than just their roles in the ministry.

Today’s team spotlight is Diane Wolf. Some of you may recognize her and others may not as Diane is new to the Executive Director role at Hope Within. We welcome her compassion, heart and drive to see the ministry grow.

Diane enjoys talking about Jesus with others and listening to their life stories. That’s what she also loves about Hope Within is getting the opportunity to do that in so many ways. That is her most favorite thing to do! Serving others and encouraging them is generally the mission for the day. When Diane is not at Hope Within she enjoys time with her husband and family. If there is an opportunity to hike or kayak that is where you might find her. She also enjoys biking, reading, cooking, hunting, camping and just being in nature. Bible study with friends is her spiritual refreshment.

Last week, we were able to finish a big project of accomplishing a complete clean out of our storage shed. Over many years, we have accumulated more donations of medical supplies than we were able to use.

We connected with another ministry called the American Foundation for Children with Aids. AFCA supports several medical clinics in various countries in Africa, including Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Uganda. The supplies we passed on to them will be packed into a shipping container and sent to medical clinics in Africa where they can be put to good use. We love being able to send these items out to be used around the world in other medical clinics like ours. It makes us grateful to be a part of the Body of Christ, all serving together in different areas, but with the same goal: to share the love of God with everyone we serve.

Dr. Jack Wright:

We are so thankful for Dr. Wright and his faithfulness to Hope Within. He graciously spends 1-2 times a month caring for and sharing God’s love with our patients. It is a joy to minister alongside of Dr. Wright and he is an encouragement to all. He shares both medical and life wisdom so easily with all of us teaching us that you are finished influencing others. Happy Birthday Dr. Wright

Claudia Stephens:

Claudia is our Tuesday front desk volunteer and one of our biggest supporters and encouragers. Claudia radiates tenderness and compassion and beautifully shares the love of God with everyone but especially those who are hurting. Hope Within is blessed beyond measure to call Claudia a friend and part of the team! We love you, Claudia and wish you a most blessed Birthday

Kari Rank:

Kari is our faithful dental assistant, coming along side of our dentists, oral surgeon and hygienist to provide great dental care to our patients. Seeing the dentist can be scary and Kari provides a calming presence and sympathetic essence as she helps patients get comfortable for appointments. Her tenderness and compassion show patients how God cares for us. We are thankful for Kari and the time she gives to be a part of the Hope Within team. Happy Birthday Kari

Janice Oreheck:

Janice is also a front desk volunteer filling as needed. Janice brings a fun spirit and exuberance to any atmosphere she enters! We especially appreciate her time at Hope Within as she spreads joy to others. She is an encourager in the big and little things. Her help and time are greatly appreciated! Janice’s love for the Lord and the life we have in Him is evident as she shares her time with the Hope Within family. Happy Birthday Janice, we love you

Michael Murray

Michael is part of the Hope Within team in the position of president of the Board. We are so appreciative of the wisdom, guidance and oversight he brings to Hope Within. His time and prayers invested in us are a wonderful gift and blessing to Hope Within. Michael loves his family and has interests in music and history. Ashley Beachy

Ashley was a previous volunteer dentist who is now working full time and growing her family so her time is more limited. Ashley’s heart resonates with the ministry of Hope Within and she continues to support Hope Within with encouragement and prayer. Dr. Betsy Avinash

Betsy is one of our clinicians that faithfully volunteers on a regular basis! She loves being a mom and balances that as she specializes in Urology in her daily practice of medicine. She graciously shares a few hours of her free time with Hope Within in the area of general family medicine. She is patient, kind and listens to our patients helping them feel seen and heard! Betsy has a gentile and kind demeanor and beautiful smile which comforts and welcomes our patients. We are grateful for Betsy and her gift of sharing God’s love with and through Hope Within. 🦷 Tooth News Tuesday! 🦷

Recently Darice, our dental program coordinator, had to compile some statistics for partnering organizations. Since we had all of the statistics laying around, Darice decided to use them to make a year in review, albeit a few months late.

Most days we are fully absorbed in the next thing that needs to be done. It is pretty remarkable to look back over the course of the year and see what God has done! We are so grateful for the way that He provides the volunteers, the funds, and the patients who need our services. We are praying for God to do even greater things through the Dental Clinic this year and the years ahead.

Would you please join us in asking God to provide and increase His provisions for this ministry? More means we can meet more people who need dental care and testify to them of God’s great love and provision for them.

☀️ SCHOOL’S OUT — BUT SUMMER HEAT IS HERE! ☀️

With kids spending more time outdoors, it’s important to recognize the signs of heat-related illness BEFORE it becomes an emergency.

🔥 Watch for signs of heat exhaustion:
• Excessive sweating
• Dizziness or feeling lightheaded
• Headache
• Nausea or vomiting
• Muscle cramps
• Weakness or fatigue
• Cool, pale, clammy skin

🚨 Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Call 911 if someone:
• Stops sweating despite the heat
• Has hot, red skin
• Becomes confused or difficult to wake
• Has a seizure
• Loses consciousness

💧 Simple ways to stay safe:
• Drink water frequently—even before you feel thirsty
• Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning
• Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing
• Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day
• Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle

As we enjoy God’s creation this summer, let’s also be good stewards of our health and look out for one another.
