Have you ever been told this? ⚠️⚠️⚠️

Just because you may have a tear in the meniscus, a tear in the labrum whether it be in your shoulder. Your hip doesn't always mean that you have to have surgery. 😲

Now I'll be the first to say that there are some limitations to this, the degree of the dare where it's torn, how much it's affecting your life...

Is it disrupting your strength? Is it disrupting range of motion? And overall, what matters is what is your end goal? 🤷‍♂️

What I'm trying to say is just because something is torn or the word tear is involved. Doesn't always mean surgeries necessary 👍

If this is you or you know somebody who's going through this right now and they were told that they must have surgery. Go ahead and hit like, comment below, tag them and give us a follow. ✅

Been told your torn muscle MUST HAVE SURGERY?

Here's the truth ...

There are circumstances that they can heal on their own if you didn't know 🤔

And unfortunately not everyone, even surgeons, will want to acknowledge this. 🤷‍♂️

Take it from me... I was told I had to have surgery for my RUPTURED hamstring two years ago.

Today I'm strong, faster, more athletic, and the best part??? 😲

It put itself back together 😎 kind of cool right?

How'd I manage to do it? The right rehab at the right time for the right person 😁

Wins of the week from last week... Time to celebrate the wins!

A super dad who had an exhausting week but still saw changes in his lower back and hit range of motion ✅

A patient with shoulder pain that's finally able to do a landmine press and has started pressing overhead again 🏅

A young athlete who has full range of motion in the shoulder again and can finally press overhead again 🏈

A super mom who has had the best damn set of back squats she has had in ages 😲

Another patient who's finally seen fluid motion in their knee and hip restored 😎

A patient who can finally lift weight to the side and overhead again with no pinching pain 🔥

And a patient whose shoulder every visit has come in and felt better and better 😁

If every visit you aren't moving the needle, even a little towards something good, you may need a change. Not every visit has to be a massive win but change is what you're looking for ✅✅

If you've been told your meniscus tear HAS to have surgery to heal pump the brakes ⚠️⚠️⚠️

Not all tears are created equal! 👍

What I mean is, there are circumstances that would and would not have enough value in doing surgery.

Now pain is for sure a considered factor, but things like a locking knee joint or chronic instability are also factors. 🫠

So if pain is the only factor, and it wasn't an acute tear, but rather a degenerative one... You may be better off without surgery 🤔

But everything has its buts... Am I right?

There are limits to both surgical and non-surgical interventions 👍

So why not find out if you can't avoid surgery by hitting the follow button below or commenting the word knee? 💪

Been told you TORE a muscle and that you MUST have surgery to fix it? 🫠

Let's think about what a tear means...

We grade tears, sprains or strains, on a scale based on some other criteria I won't get into the weeds here with... 🤔

But what I mean is that not every year is built the same. Some require surgery don't get me wrong, but not every does...

In fact the greater majority don't meet the criteria for it 🫣

Obviously there is a lot of nuance about this, so instead of assuming the word TEAR means surgery, how about asking the question of what degree, what kind, and does it actually need surgery....

Or can this heal on its own? 🥸

If someone is claiming to be able to identify the singular root cause of your pain... Show them this 🫠

This is a biopsychosocial model of pain... It takes into consideration everything you may be going through. No singular root cause. 🤷‍♂️

We take this always into consideration from our points of care 😲

So if your physical therapist, chiro, or doctor isn't considering these things...

Maybe you need an upgrade to the care you deserve 💪😎

Is deadlifting actually a safe exercise? 🏋️

Deadlifts get blamed for a lot: low back pain, disc injuries, “wear and tear,” and sometimes they’re treated like an exercise that should be avoided altogether. 🫣

But is the deadlift itself really the problem? 🤔

In our newest episode of Two Bros & Some Joints, we break down the deadlift, what the research actually says about safety and injury risk, and why the answer usually isn’t as simple as “deadlifts are bad for your back.”

We also talk about how loading, technique, programming, and your individual capacity all play a role... and why avoiding loading altogether may not be the solution people think it is.

Give it a listen and let us know: Do you deadlift? Comment below 👇

Been told your knee is “bone-on-bone” and that injections or surgery are your only options? 🤔

Your X-ray is important... but it doesn't always tell the full story of what your knee is capable of.

Strength, mobility, tolerance to load, and the type of rehab you've actually tried all matter. 💪

For some people, surgery is absolutely the right choice. But if you've never gone through a progressive, strength-based rehab program, there may still be options worth exploring first. 😲

If knee pain is keeping you from working out, using stairs, playing sports, or doing the things you enjoy, we're offering a free 30-minute Knee Discovery Call to talk through what's going on and whether we might be able to help.
