This is causing me to have grave concerns about this new governor. I hate to word it so strongly but we must know what is going on to have a safe and prosperous future for our families. I’m glad the RNC and judges are looking into this. I am not against Democrats who stand for righteousness but there seems to be few of them anymore. All I can do is to pray and hope for wise decisions but better leadership.
🚨 JUDGE BLOCKS "BRUTAL" VIRGINIA GERRYMANDER: Democrats' 10-1 Map Halted for "Blatant Abuse of Power" 🚨
The legal wall has finally been hit! Tazewell County Circuit Judge Jack Hurley Jr. has officially blocked the Virginia Democrats’ attempt to force through a mid-decade redistricting plan that critics call the most aggressive gerrymander in state history. The judge declared the entire process "void from the start," ruling that Democrats "trampled" the procedural rights of the minority to push their agenda.
The proposed map was designed to create 10 Democrat-leaning districts and only one safe Republican seat (the 9th District).
Virginia currently has 6 Democrats and 5 Republicans in the U.S. House. This map would have effectively wiped out four GOP seats, including those held by Reps. Jen Kiggans and Rob Wittman.
The new boundaries would have carved up Northern Virginia to dilute conservative votes, stretching one district from York County all the way to Reagan National Airport.
Why the Judge Stepped In 🚔🏛️
Judge Hurley’s ruling was based on three major "procedural violations":
Democrats ignored the legislature’s own rules by adding redistricting to a special session that was never intended for it.
The initial vote for the amendment happened after early voting for the 2025 election had already begun. The judge noted that over one million Virginians had already cast ballots, and ignoring that "intervening election" was unconstitutional.
The state failed to meet the mandatory 90-day public notice requirement before trying to put the measure on the ballot.
The Legal War Continues 📉🏛️
While the Virginia Supreme Court ruled on Feb. 13 that the April 21 referendum can physically proceed while the appeal plays out, Judge Hurley’s "void from the start" ruling means the result might never be certified if upheld.
Just today, February 19, 2026, the RNC and NRCC filed yet another lawsuit to completely dismantle what they call an "illegal" and "unlawful" process.
This is Virginia’s attempt to counter the "Red Wave" of redistricting in states like Texas and North Carolina, where Republicans have reclaimed seats following President Trump’s call for mid-decade updates.
