A woman came in for her first Reiki session in twenty years. She'd been carrying chronic pain for a long time, and she told me afterward she felt like a different person walking out than she had walking in.
Her words stayed with me. No pain anymore. Deeply relaxed. In a genuinely good mood. And when she woke up the next morning, she still felt that way.
I think a lot of people assume the hour on the table is the whole thing. In my experience it's often the days afterward where the shift really settles in. The relaxation your body drops into during a session keeps unfolding once you leave.
A few things I share with anyone coming for the first time:
Drink a full glass of water within half an hour. Reiki moves energy through the body, and water helps your system process what just shifted.
Don't rush back into a packed day. Give yourself an hour of quiet if you can. Your body just switched into rest, and that response needs a little room to settle.
Then notice the next morning. Lighter mood, easier sleep, less tension in your shoulders. That's the healing still doing its quiet work.
The session runs about an hour. What it opens up can carry for days. Your part is simply to stay open to it. ๐
