Do you find yourself caring for patients more than you care for yourself?
🌟 Working alongside providers as a nurse, I've seen the dedication firsthand. Patient care is non-stop and challenging, but we're no good to our patients if we neglect our own well-being.
Heres a few basic reminders for you:
✔️ A good night's rest! 😴 Lack of sleep hampers cell regeneration, leading to focus issues and fatigue. Try a bedtime routine—deep breathing, essential oil rub, meditation, stretching—to prepare body and mind for rest.
✔️ Proper hydration! 🥤 As providers, bathroom breaks can be a challenge. I add lemon and electrolytes to my water, keeping a bottle filled up throughout the day. Out of sight, out of mind? Not anymore.
✔️ Time outs! 🧘♀️ Our brains need a reset during the day. Constant brain overload comes with the provider territory. Use a meditation app that gives you reminders to fake 5min meditation/reset breaks.
✔️ Regular Breaks and Time Off. Schedule regular breaks throughout your day to give your mind a chance to reset. Additionally, make sure to take your allotted vacation time to recharge and step away from work-related stress.
Taking care of yourself isn't selfish—it's necessary.
