The Arc of Howard County offers a wide range of services for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families. We provide direct support and services that enable people to lead full and rich lives in their homes and in the community. Since 1961, The Arc has grown from a small group of parents to one of the county’s largest employers.

Sometimes, the people we support just wanted to break a sweat😅 so they played basketball in the parking lot at The Arc office. There were lots of smiles, teamwork, and friendly competition. They had such a great time they are looking forward to doing it more often! 🏀

Can we brag just a little?? Look at the umbrella decorated by The Arc staff and people we support!! It's blue-themed, in honor of our 65th anniversary, and in line with the theme, " Celebrating the UNITY of CommUNITY through Nature's Magnificence."
We hope you were able to go this weekend and vote for The Arc's umbrella! It was one of 40 beautiful artworks showcased at Lake Kittamaqundi. What an incredible display of talent and creativity from organizations and artists throughout Howard County. We're proud to be part of this community!

Our Summer Social was a blast from start to finish! ☀️ From delicious BBQ by Beefalo Bob's to rock painting, dancing, and cooling off under the misting tent, everyone had a chance to kick back, relax, and enjoy each other’s company. It was a day filled with laughter, good vibes, and making memories that will stick with us for a long time. 💙

The umbrella that sparked a celebration. ☂️

Last year, the people we support proudly won second place in the “Umbrellas Abound at Lakefest” contest hosted by the Columbia Festival of the Arts. They celebrated by marching through the office with their award-winning creation! This year, they’re back with a new blue umbrella in honor of The Arc’s 65th anniversary.

Head over to the Downtown Columbia Lakefront this weekend (June 12-14) and check out their stunning artwork, along with other decorated umbrellas. Bring the whole family for a weekend of fun, food and entertainment. https://columbiafestival.org/
