(1)

Wright Cancer Resource Center in Ellsworth is one of only three freestanding cancer resource centers in Maine. It serves Hancock and Washington Counties where the incidence, prevalence, and mortality rates for cancer far exceed both the state and national averages. Wright Center is the place to turn for education and support in making sense of a cancer diagnosis and proceeding with your life. Wright Cancer Resource Center provides a comfortable place for cancer patients, families, and friends to meet their educational and emotional needs. Our staff is almost entirely volunteer; professionals and caring community members donate their time to offer classes, meetings, and programs that are free to people with cancer, their families, and friends. We offer books, brochures, video and audio tapes as well as a computer with access to the internet.

๐Ÿ’— Breast health awareness starts with knowing whatโ€™s normal for you.

Ni**le discharge can be milky, clear, yellow, green, brown, or bloody, but color alone cannot tell you the cause. Most ni**le discharge is not cancer, but new or unusual discharge deserves a conversation with your healthcare provider.

Contact your provider if discharge:
๐ŸŒธ Is bloody or clear
๐ŸŒธ Comes from only one breast
๐ŸŒธ Happens without squeezing
๐ŸŒธ Occurs with a new lump or changes to your breast or ni**le

Avoid squeezing to check, as this can make discharge worse. Donโ€™t wait for your next routine screening to discuss a new change.

๐ŸŒป The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center provides free cancer support and patient navigation for individuals and families. If you need help connecting with care or finding resources, weโ€™re here for you.

๐ŸŽ€ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month ๐ŸŽ€

Your health mattersโ€”and taking time for yourself matters, too. This month, the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center is sharing four reminders for your breast health:

๐Ÿ’— Know your risk. Talk with your healthcare provider about your personal and family history.
๐Ÿ’— Stay up to date on screening. Ask when and how often you should have a mammogram.
๐Ÿ’— Know your breasts. Report any new or unusual changes to your healthcare provider.
๐Ÿ’— Care for your whole health. Make time for movement, nourishment, and habits that support your well-being.

๐ŸŒป Whether youโ€™re facing a cancer diagnosis, supporting someone you love, or looking for resources, weโ€™re here to help. Nobody faces cancer alone.
