Grow With Us: ECMC at Fort Hays State University!

Our team is out and about sharing what makes rural healthcare—and ECMC—a great place to grow!

ECMC Recruiter Sara Oberle, joined by RN Ann Ridinger, recently represented Ellsworth County Medical Center at the Fort Hays State University Career Fair. They had the opportunity to connect with students and future healthcare professionals, talk about career opportunities at ECMC, and share what it’s like to build a meaningful career in rural healthcare.

At ECMC, we believe a career is about more than finding your next job. It’s about finding a place where you can grow your skills, build relationships, make an impact, and become part of a community.

💜 This week, we’re pausing the “Most Wanted” list for something that truly matters.

If you’ve been following our ECMC Most Wanted campaign, you know we like to have a little fun around here. We love showcasing the personalities behind ECMC and finding creative ways to show you what makes working in rural healthcare different.

But we also know when it’s time to turn our attention to the conversations that matter most.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and this week, ECMC is recognizing Su***de Prevention Week as part of our Paint the County Purple campaign. 💜

Today, we kicked off the week with Coffee & Connections—an opportunity to gather, connect, share resources, and remind one another of something simple but incredibly important:

You are not alone. Someone cares. And it is okay to not be okay.

Throughout the week, we have education and activities planned for our employees, as we navigate these difficult topics that we know are important to those who take care of our community on a daily basis.

So, our ECMC convicts are getting a temporary reprieve. 😉 Most Wanted will return next week. For now, we're using our platform for something even more important.

🚨 ECMC MOST WANTED: TAMMY 🚨
WANTED FOR: Keeping ECMC Supplied & Suspiciously Organized

We need to address something before we get to the charges.

After several unusually tall suspects appeared in our ECMC Most Wanted lineup, we were starting to think there might actually be a height requirement to work here.

Then Tammy showed up. 😂

Coming in at a towering 4'6 feet, our Materials Management Manager is proof that you absolutely do NOT have to be tall to make the Most Wanted list—or a BIG impact at ECMC. 🚔

Tammy has been caught:

📦 Keeping departments stocked with the supplies they need
🔎 Tracking down items that have mysteriously disappeared
🚚 Coordinating orders, deliveries, and approximately 4,732 other things behind the scenes
📋 Keeping tabs on inventory so the rest of us don't have to
💪 Proving daily that you don't need height when you've got reach

Her crime?
Possession of an unreasonable amount of knowledge about where everything is.

And while our previous suspects may have had a significant height advantage, Tammy has something they don't:

🚨 ECMC MOST WANTED: SHANE 🚨
WANTED FOR: Making Patients Smile

Shane may be pretty new to the ECMC scene, but apparently it didn’t take him long to start causing trouble. 👀

As a CNA on our Inpatient Unit, Shane has already been caught:

💜 Bringing a positive attitude to his shifts
😂 Having fun and sharing a laugh with our patients
🤝 Jumping in and helping his teammates
🩺 Making sure patients feel cared for and comfortable
⭐ Proving that sometimes the little things make a BIG difference

His crime? An alarming ability to turn an ordinary day into a better one.

Healthcare can come with some tough days, especially for patients spending time in the hospital. Having someone willing to laugh with you, talk with you, and make you feel a little more at home matters.

And Shane? He’s been caught doing exactly that. 🚔

He’s new enough that we probably should be telling him to keep a low profile…

Too late. He made the Most Wanted list. 😂

🚨 ECMC MOST WANTED: ANN 🚨
WANTED FOR: Having Way Too Much Fun at Work

We asked Ann for a mug shot.

Ann apparently heard: “Bring props.” 😂

As an RN working in our Clinic and Outpatient Specialties, Ann has been caught combining excellent patient care with a suspicious amount of fun.

🩺 Caring for patients across clinic and specialty services
💜 Making patients feel comfortable and cared for
🤝 Jumping in wherever she’s needed
😂 Keeping her coworkers entertained
🎭 Taking an ordinary mug shot and somehow turning it into a full production

Her crime? Bringing entirely too much personality to the scene.

Ann knows healthcare can be serious—but that doesn’t mean you can’t laugh, have fun with your coworkers, and bring a little joy to the people around you.

And the props in this photo? We have questions. A lot of questions. 😂🚔

We’re also pretty sure that little smirk means she’s not even a little sorry.

WANTED FOR: Making Paper Disappear 👀

Well, that didn’t take long.

After we put out an all-points bulletin asking for nominations, Katie’s name came across the tip line. Several times, actually. And after a little investigating, we can see why. 😂 We're also not sure why our suspects keep getting so much taller. ❓🤔

As our HIM Compliance & Data Integrity Specialist, Katie has been caught:

📋 Keeping our health information accurate, complete, and compliant
🔎 Tracking down details that just don’t add up
💻 Helping turn cumbersome processes into efficient workflows
📄 Working extensively with WQM to make paper processes disappear without a trace
✨ Finding better, smarter ways to keep information moving

Her crime?
Operating an elaborate paperless operation right under our noses.

Katie has become especially dangerous around unnecessary paperwork. Give her a process with too many steps, too much paper, or an opportunity for better efficiency, and chances are she’ll start asking questions.

Before you know it… the paper is gone. 🚔😂

Well, this is awkward. 👀

We went looking for our next ECMC Most Wanted suspect and found…nobody.

Apparently our suspects have gone into hiding. But don’t worry—we’ve received some tips, and rumor has it a few familiar faces will be brought in for questioning this weekend. 🚔📸

In the meantime, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Who at ECMC deserves a spot on the Most Wanted list? Maybe they’re guilty of:

💜 Caring way too much
🩺 Going above and beyond for patients
🔎 Solving problems nobody else can figure out
😂 Keeping their coworkers laughing

WANTED FOR: Serving Up Some Serious Trouble

That mug shot? Absolutely no coaching required. 😂 Rhonda understood the assignment. In fact, there was talk of face tattoos and prison jumpsuits. But the hair net? A required wardrobe for Rhonda.

As our Food Services Manager, Rhonda has earned quite the reputation around ECMC. She’s been caught:

🍽️ Keeping patients, employees, and guests well fed
👩‍🍳 Running a kitchen that keeps ECMC moving
🥘 Serving up comfort when people need it most
🍰 Making a cheesecake that may actually be criminally good
😠 And delivering a mean mug almost as legendary as her mean cheesecake

Her crime? Possession of dangerous levels of culinary talent.

Don’t be intimidated by the mug shot, though. Behind that look is someone making sure our patients are cared for in one of the most fundamental ways possible, with good food, attention to their needs, and a whole lot of heart.

But the cheesecake? We’re going to need to confiscate that as evidence. 🍰🚔

WANTED FOR: Unauthorized Levels of Cerner Knowledge

That face says it all. Trish has been caught, and apparently she is... sad? 😂 And our requirement to be TALL continues.

As our Medical Credentialer and resident Cerner expert, Trish is wanted for some pretty serious offenses:

💻 Knowing entirely too much about Cerner
🔎 Tracking down answers when the rest of us are completely stumped
📋 Keeping provider credentials, documentation, and details in order
🩺 Helping make sure our medical staff are properly credentialed and ready to care for patients
🚨 Being the person everyone calls when Cerner decides to...well, be Cerner

Her crime? Possession of knowledge the rest of us desperately need.

If there’s a Cerner mystery to solve, a credential to track down, or a question nobody else can answer, there’s a pretty good chance someone is saying, “Ask Trish.”

And judging by this mug shot, she’d like everyone to know she was framed. 😏

WANTED FOR: Making Dollars Make Sense

We tried to get a serious mug shot. We really did. Unfortunately, even while being brought in for questioning, Macy and Glori couldn’t stop smiling. 😂 Apparently cheerful dispositions are just part of their criminal profile.

As our Financial Counselors, this duo has been caught:

💰 Helping patients understand their financial options
🧾 Making confusing bills a little less intimidating
🔎 Tracking down answers and resources
🤝 Helping patients navigate the financial side of healthcare
😊 And, apparently, smiling excessively while doing it

Their crime? Conspiracy to make healthcare finances easier to understand.

Known around ECMC as Double Trouble, Macy and Glori prove that talking about medical bills doesn’t have to feel scary. They’re ready to answer questions, explain options, and help our patients find their way forward, all with a smile that apparently even a mug shot can’t contain. 🚔😂

Consider these two a threat to confusing medical bills everywhere.
