Behind every uniform is a story.
I love these photos more than I can put into words. It's the first and last photo I have of my oldest son and me together in uniform before I retired from the U.S. Army after more than 20 years of service.
Today, he proudly serves in the U.S. Navy, continuing our family's tradition of serving others.
Service has always been at the heart of our family. My husband, Lou, serves our community as a firefighter, and together we're raising four amazing kids. Each of them is wonderfully unique, deeply loved, and keeps us on our toes in their own special way bringing us plenty of laughs and a few gray hairs (lets be real, a lot!).
My passion for caring for women has been shaped not only by my years as a nurse and midwife, but also by my own family's journey. Almost 4 years ago our youngest entered the world at just 23 weeks gestation. Walking through the uncertainty, fear, and hope that comes with an extremely premature birth gave me a perspective that no textbook ever could. It deepened my compassion for women and families during some of life's mot vulnerable moments and strengthened my commitment to providing care that keeps the individual at the center.
