World Diabetes Awareness Day!

Take a moment to give some recognition to your friends and family who tackle diabetes with strength and grace every day. Let them know how proud you are of their resilience, and make sure they feel the support from your corner. 💙

*This is not a jab at metformin, just information about alternatives.*

Check out this landmark diabetes prevention program (DPP) study that paved the way for nutrition therapy to be a covered benefit through insurance!

Population: People with prediabetes.
Objective: Prevent/delay the development of type 2 diabetes.
Sample Size: 3,234 (large)
Groups: Lifestyle Change (Diet and Exercise) VS. Metformin VS. Placebo

Results: After three years, the lifestyle changes reduced the risk of diabetes by 58% compared to metformin, which reduced the incidence by 31%. Ten years later in the outcome study (DPPOS), the lifestyle changes still led to a 34% rate reduction in developing diabetes compared to 18% for the metformin group.

Conclusion: "the lifestyle intervention was significantly more effective at preventing diabetes than metformin."

You can absolutely experience positive changes such as improved digestion, better sleep, enhanced focus/clarity, increased energy, greater confidence, improved strength/endurance, and a happier disposition, all without necessarily seeing a change on the scale.

Don't let the stubborn scale discourage you. Everyone's body is different, and progress can manifest in different ways. You are doing great! Stay the course. :)
