It's FINALLY here! After months (years?) of mental work and the gentlest of actual computer work and SOLID procrastination, I finally took the day to sit down and pull it all together ๐Ÿฅณ Pop on over to visit Every Little Thing @ shelleysontag.com

I'm super proud of my new website! I'll be adding to it over the next few months, so please let me know if you visit and find anything wonky or not working. Still trying to figure out how to get a solid calendar out there - for now schedule will remain on IG/FB as always.

The website currently has links to oodles of my videos - many done during the covid years, but the songs and mindful moments and chair exercises are still as fun and relevant today ๐Ÿฅฐ

Best of all, I'll be adding a blog, full of all sorts of mental musings from yoga props to disability awareness to great books I'm reading. Check back often - I'm shooting for a post a week - and you know they'll be eclectic, just like me ๐Ÿ˜‰

(chair yogis, remember how I'm always like "oh yeah, I'll put a link to that prop/tool/article on my website once it's up? Now it's for reals! You'll actually get links!)

*** PS, if anyone wants to shoot me a 1-2 sentence testimonial about class or my teaching or even how yoga makes you feel, please do at [email protected] - I do NOT like asking for these kind of things, but I know it can be so impactful to have some of my students' own words included on my site ๐Ÿ’•

Spring is in the air ๐ŸŒธ

I had so much fun making cherry blossoms with all my little yogis during Move, Learn & Grow on Monday! Every young artist was so creative all of their art pieces were so beautiful ๐ŸŽจ

I hope you get outside & enjoy all spring has to offer ๐Ÿ’œ

This pic isn't pretty, or aesthetic, or "IG-worthy" but it's important because it's REAL

So much of social media is cultivated, it is so easy to compare yourself to what you see on someone's feed and feel less-than, feel depressed or frustrated, feel lacking or inadequate in so many different ways. But it's not reality and it is so far from fair to yourself.

I'm currently doing my 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) with I know there are prejudices out there about online yoga trainings and I understand those feelings. I've done trainings in-person, *forced online* (COVID times), and chosen online (also COVID times, but also now).

All I can say is that you need to find what fits your life, what works for you in the moment and what's right in your heart. Honestly, it parallels the practice of yoga itself.

I took this shot to share a bit of my reality and why I love the flexibility that an online YTT can provide. Sometimes you'll find me studiously taking notes while learning about anatomy, lineages, special populations, etc. Sometimes you'll find me meditating, moving my body to truly feel a pose, or observing a class, which is what I'm doing here.

Even if your course is virtual, you still need 45 synchronous hours to register your training with . So here I am observing and participating in a lovely Yin yoga class with Marli. My notebook is out to help me remember wonderful cues or helpful poses. My big ol' pup is lumbering over to snag some snuggles bc Momma is sitting on the floor. There's laundry waiting to be folded, wipes out from cleaning a mess, a scary To Do list on the table, and I'm practicing in my kitchen to keep an ear out for the kids and to keep an eye on dinner in the oven.

Some might ask why I continue through the chaos. I do it bc I love yoga and I LOVE learning. I love becoming a better teacher for my students. Learning new things helps me fill my cup. It helps me be a better partner and parent. I like to think of it as balance versus chaos, of the way I dance through life, fuel my mind, support my body, lean into the messiness and find joy in the mayhem. ๐Ÿ’•

Fall is a natural time of slowing down, preparing, getting cozy ๐Ÿ‚ Many of us also begin to look inward and reflect ๐Ÿ

Even though the season is asking us to slow, to enjoy nature's beautiful colors and crisp breezes, society may be pressuring us to do otherwise - whether it's finding the perfect costume(s), attending all the activities, coordinating everything that goes into that perfect family photo - you name it, it can feel like (and *is*) a LOT

Whatever Fall means to you, whatever pressures exist in your life right now, try to find some ways to fill your cup this beautiful season ๐Ÿ’•

Your friends and family love you, and one of the best ways you can show them that love back is by making sure to take a little time for yourself to reset and refresh ๐Ÿ’œ

It could be a few deep breaths of the fresh air right outside your front door, actually sitting and enjoying that cozy cup of tea or coffee, giving your favorite furbaby some extra snuggles (great for both of you!) - truly anything you can think of that will help you PAUSE, BREATHE and feel a little lighter and more balanced ๐Ÿฅฐ

Canโ€™t think of a happier mistake than parking a bit too far from your destination and happening upon the CUTEST little bookshop ๐Ÿฅฐ

If youโ€™re near Boonton, make sure to stop in ๐Ÿ’•

The books are all used, really wonderfully priced and great quality, the space is cozy and well laid out, they have kids and adult reads, and the shop owner is such a lovely human - we will definitely be back!

Time for a BREAK! I taught my last class of the summer yesterday and today begins Ms. Shelley's Summer Break ๐Ÿ˜Žโ˜€๏ธ

I'll miss all my yogis, but it'll only be for a few weeks, and then we'll pick right back up in September with all kinds of fun library and rec classes!

Keep a lookout in early September for class schedules - kids/teen yoga classes (+music/art/sensory activities) and adult chair/mobility classes will both be back, plus even more to come in October ๐Ÿฅณ

I hope everyone has a joyful, healthy and safe rest of their summer ๐Ÿ’•

So, Iโ€™m guilty of ever-saving expensive/special things for the โ€œrightโ€ occasion, and while celebrating extra awesome moments & accomplishments is always encouraged in my book, letโ€™s normalize celebrating life each and every day we have it ๐ŸŽ‰

As itโ€™s the final day of get out there and celebrate having this day, being alive - enjoy time with friends, splurge on the โ€œfancyโ€ meal/drink/outfit, soak up the sun, dance in the rain, cuddle your kiddos/furbabies close, bliss out in the hammock, take the looong way home, make time for yourself to simply be ๐Ÿ’œ

Whatever the day brings and whatever celebrating life means to you, give it a go today and try to embody that celebratory feeling the whole year through. You are WORTH it โ˜บ๏ธ

Donโ€™t know where to start? Keep it simple and try the mantra we say at the end of all my classes: I am ENOUGH. I am AMAZING! ๐Ÿ’•

(WARNING- when repeated frequently enough, you likely will begin to believe it ๐Ÿฅฐ)

A special thanks to for posting this great reminder ๐Ÿ‘
