Turning 65 soon? One of the most common questions people ask is: “When can I enroll in Medicare?”
Here are two key times you may be eligible to enroll in Medicare:
✔ Initial Enrollment Period (IEP)
You have a 7-month window around your 65th birthday to sign up. 3 months before you turn 65, and 3 months after the month you turn 65.
✔ Special Enrollment Period (SEP)
If you or your spouse retire and lose employer health insurance coverage, you may qualify to enroll outside of your initial enrollment period. You have an 8 month SEP to apply for a Medicare.
⏰ Enrolling at the right time is important to avoid potential penalties and gaps in coverage.
If you’re approaching Medicare eligibility and want guidance on your options, I’m here to help.
