The Allied Community Services Sports & Recreation department hosts many exciting events that allow our participants to get active and have fun!

The participants recently celebrated an incredible showing at the Special Olympics State Summer Games, where 48 Enfield Stars competed in swimming, walking, and track & field. Our athletes also got to experience fun activities like an opening ceremony, Olympic Town activities, a beach-themed dance, and a closing pizza party. Everyone demonstrated determination, sportsmanship, and teamwork throughout the three-day event—and many returned home with gold, silver, and bronze medals. We couldn't be prouder! 🥇🥈🥉

On July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA National Network New England ADA Center) was signed into law — a landmark moment in civil rights that changed what was possible for millions of people with disabilities. Thirty-six years later, the work of protecting and expanding those rights continues.

One of the most direct ways to honor the ADA's anniversary is to use your voice. Contact your elected officials and urge them to protect Medicaid, special education funding, and disability civil rights. People with disabilities and their families are counting on these programs — and your voice matters.

Did you know July is Disability Pride Month? 💚💙🤍💛❤️

And this year's theme, "The World Works Better With Us," which says it all. At Allied Community Services, we know this to be true every single day. The adults we support make our communities stronger, more creative, and more complete.

Disability Pride Month traces its roots to the Americans with Disabilities Act, signed July 26, 1990 — a landmark moment in civil rights that we continue to build on together. This month, we celebrate disability identity, culture, and community — and recommit to the inclusion and dignity every person deserves.
