in today is a focus on another piece of everyone's morning routine; making your bed.

This can be a therapeutic process without even knowing it. Some people say that the process of making their bed is necessary in order to have a purposeful or productive day. If you need help, try to make your bed with someone! A partner, a home care aide, or a son or daughter can help.

Take in the sensory experience from the pillow fluffing, to the material of the soft sheets. Let us know how it goes at Garden State Home Care Services !

Happy from Garden State Home Care Services!

This week, practice listening more carefully. Take special attention to the sound of the summer birds, the soothing voice of your patient caregivers or helpers, and the sizzling steam sound of the coffee dripping from your afternoon keurig coffee pick-me-up (or the clinking of the ice in your iced coffee).

I challenge you to try the following exercise 3 times today. Listen especially closely to someone's voice, a nature sound, and a sound in your home. How does each sound make you feel; Comforted? At ease? Excited? Sleepy? These mindful practices make each day more inspirational and keep us more in touch with a fleeting moment which would otherwise pass us by!

Adding more mindfulness and attention to our regular routine we do each week can make a big difference in how we approach our week!

Incorporating into our week is a great way to to be appreciative of the little things in our lives. This is especially true for our elderly friends and family. The daily practices such as getting dressed, showering, or listening can become overwhelming and exhausting. Try feeling the textures of your clothes, getting lost in the shower sounds, or closing your eyes to hear the sounds around you.
