🌟 Student of the Month: June 🌟
This month we celebrate ----Ellen---- Who embodies what a yoga community is all about
She consistently brings a positive energy to class, steps outside her comfort zone to try new things, and is always ready to encourage someone else to do the same!
Ellen, we are grateful to practice alongside you! 💛 Thank you for being such a wonderful part of our community!
Read more about her yoga journey and give her a little💓 below.
What’s your favorite class or style of yoga to practice?
That’s really hard as I like a lot of them. I take a lot of gentle and yin classes because they work better for me. I like flow classes but they are harder for me. However, the teachers at Sukha always insist you go at your own pace so if I don’t keep up with the class that’s okay! I love a good chair yoga class and find that it can stretch me in ways the other classes don’t. And let’s not forget Linda’s Restorative Yoga Nidra class! That class always means a really good night’s sleep to follow!
How has your yoga practice impacted your life?
The flexibility I have gained thanks to yoga is just one aspect. Yoga has helped me stay calm and more centered in a very hectic time. As they say, “Yoga, because murder is wrong.” But it’s not just the practice of yoga, it’s the wonderful supportive community at Sukha. The teachers care about the students and vice versa and the students care about each other.
Tell us about a memorable experience or teacher who’s inspired you.
I have to pick just one teacher? I’ve taken just about every one for a class and they are all great. Supportive and give options for increase or decrease in difficulty. One memory that stands out was Angie’s first time teaching a flow class. I had taken multiple gentle classes from her and decided it was time to try a flow and she was substituting for another teacher. When I came in, she greeted me and said, “Look at you! Trying something new!” We laughed because we were both trying something new that day. At the end, we had another good laugh and congratulated each other for having successfully done something new for each of us.
