It was such a pleasure to see so many familiar faces, meet new ones, love on the babies (some of whom aren’t such babies anymore 😭), watch the kids play, laugh together, eat together, and simply enjoy being in community.

So much of my work happens during some of the most intimate seasons of a family’s life — pregnancy, birth, postpartum, feeding, healing, and growing. To be able to bring everyone together outside of those moments and just celebrate the families that make up this village was incredibly special to me.

And we had a GOOD TIME! 😂🙌🏾 The food, the games, the conversations, the babies, the dancing, the laughter — everything felt exactly like I hoped it would: community.

Thank you for trusting me, supporting Butta’s, growing with me, and allowing me to be a small part of your families’ stories. Seeing this village together reminded me just how beautiful what we’ve built over the years truly is.

An opportunity for expecting Black mamas & birthing families!

One of the things I emphasize with my clients is that understanding what is happening in your care; and feeling confident enough to ask questions, seek clarity, and advocate for yourself matters.

I recently connected with maternal health researcher Dr. Kumba Sennaar about the launch of the first cohort of M.E.T.C.™ — Maternal Empowerment through Communication, and I wanted to share this opportunity with my village.

This is a virtual 3-hour patient education workshop designed to support pregnant Black individuals in strengthening their:

✨ Clinical communication skills
✨ Health literacy
✨ Understanding of medical conversations and terminology
✨ Confidence asking questions and seeking clarification
✨ Ability to advocate for themselves throughout maternity care

The curriculum is based on Dr. Sennaar’s doctoral research at Brandeis University and was informed by board-certified OB/GYNs and Black patients with lived experience.
Make moves as there are only a few seats available.

As a doula, I have the unique privilege of witnessing families grow in some of life’s most transformative moments. Over the years, I have had the honor of meeting, supporting, and learning from so many incredible fathers and father figures.

I’ve seen dads hold their partners through labor contractions, shed tears as they met their babies for the first time, advocate fiercely for their families, wake for midnight feedings, and show up day after day with unwavering love and dedication.

Fatherhood may look different for every family, but one thing remains the same: the impact of a present, loving, and engaged father is immeasurable.

Today, I celebrate the fathers who nurture, protect, encourage, comfort, teach, and grow right alongside their children. Thank you for being an essential part of the village and for the countless ways you show up for your families.

To all of the amazing dads, bonus dads, grandfathers, father figures, and fathers-to-be in our community: I see you, I appreciate you, and I am grateful to witness your journeys.
