⚡Meet the Flow Space Peeps⚡

Giselle (she/they) is a bilingual, somatic-based therapist in Burlington. Her practice centers on supporting BIPOC, Q***r folks, and allies using a social justice lens. They’ve recently expanded their offerings to include Embodied Rest Practice with the hopes of providing a community space where folks can explore softness, self-education, and practical self-care tools.

⚡Meet the Flow Space peeps!⚡

I'm Kate! I'm a local Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Health Educator and Group Exercise Instructor.

To me, exercise has always felt therapeutic. Early on, before I finished my training, I wasn't exactly sure why it felt so much better for me to move my body than to talk it out when it came to managing my mood and anxiety levels.

Now I know more. There are just so many mechanisms at play. For one, trauma (and stress) are physiological! So it makes sense to teach our bodies that we're safe through Somatics rather than through talking alone - I say it all the time- "you can't always talk your way out of trauma".

Next up, the release factor! When we move our bodies (or engage in other creative endeavors) we are better able to Evoke and Express "stuck" emotions more effectively than talking alone. There aren't always words for our internal experiences, and movement helps us bypass this block.

The last thing I'll mention are those feel good hormones that flow once we start moving. Endorphins, endocannabinoids, and dopamine are powerful little players in helping us to feel more calm, motivated and joyful, long after the movement is over.

Again, these are only a few of the factors that make movement and exercise a solid intervention for moving through distress.

I love being an individual therapist in our community. I love hearing people's stories and helping them figure out their own ways to feel well.

I'm also really excited to bring more casual and alternative forms of mental wellness promotion to our community through our groups and offerings at Flow Space VT.
