Barefoot in Nature Natural Healing

Hello everyone, I'm Rosie, I'd like to share my favorite remedies with you that I have used personally for a year now, CBD along with natural herbs and/or spices have helped me when I feel anxious, stressed out, inflamed Just to state a few issues, for a while I was weary about the effect thinking it was just a placebo effect, as I researched and used these products, I'm convinced that it's the key to helping me feel better and keep things in perspective!

🌙 Well… I went outside to see the lunar eclipse and ended up down a folklore rabbit hole.

Because apparently I can’t just look at something cool in nature and leave it at that. 😂

Tonight’s moon is the Sturgeon Moon, named for the time of year when lake sturgeon were traditionally plentiful around the Great Lakes. Even cooler, sturgeon belong to an incredibly ancient lineage. They were here long before us, quietly doing their thing while humans eventually showed up and started making up stories about why the Moon disappears. 😂

And those stories are GOOD.

🌑 For thousands of years, lunar eclipses were mysterious…and sometimes terrifying. Imagine having absolutely no idea that you’re watching Earth’s shadow move across the Moon.

In some Chinese traditions, a dragon or other celestial creature was believed to be devouring the Moon, so people made noise to scare it away. 🐉

In Hindu mythology, Rahu swallows the Moon, causing the eclipse, but can’t hold onto it, so the Moon eventually returns. 🌙

And the Inca associated the eerie reddish eclipse with a jaguar attacking the Moon. People made noise to frighten it away because apparently once your celestial jaguar finishes eating the Moon, you don’t want it looking around for dessert. 😂🐆

August’s full moon also arrives right around that beautiful shift toward harvest season…corn, grain, herbs, ripening crops and those first little signs that summer won’t last forever. 🌽🌾🌿

So there’s something pretty cool about standing outside tonight watching the same Moon humans have watched for thousands of years… knowing how many stories, traditions and superstitions have been created underneath it.

And then there’s Missouri.

Because of course I had to see what kind of Moon folklore my new home brought to the table. 😂

Turns out old Ozark folklore collected right here in Missouri included a belief that a woman could become a witch by firing a silver bullet at the Moon while saying certain forbidden words. 🧙‍♀️

And in one version recorded from Barry County, Missouri, the instructions apparently involved saying the Lord’s Prayer backward and firing SEVEN silver bullets at the Moon.

Seven.

Because apparently one bullet at the Moon wasn’t sufficiently unhinged for Missouri. 😂😂

So here I am…

In Missouri.
Outside after dark.
Under an eclipsed Moon.

I’m not saying anything backwards and nobody hand me ammunition.

I just got here. 😂🌙🌿

🥚 Holistic Heritage: Egg Cleansing (Limpia con Huevo)

Have you ever heard of an egg cleansing?

For generations, many Indigenous and Latin American families have practiced limpia con huevo as a spiritual ritual of prayer, reflection, and releasing emotional burdens. The egg is gently passed from head to toe while praying, then cracked into a glass of water. Some traditions believe the egg symbolically absorbs negative energy, stress, or the “evil eye.”

Science doesn’t confirm these spiritual interpretations, but many people find value in the ritual itself….a quiet moment to slow down, pray, reflect, and let go of what they’re carrying.

Tonight I stepped outside barefoot onto the grass, grounded myself in nature, prayed, and took a few moments to release the weight I’ve been carrying.

Whether you see it as spiritual tradition, cultural heritage, or simply intentional self-reflection, sometimes our minds and hearts just need permission to pause.

🌿 Holistic wellness isn’t only about herbs or nutrition, it’s also about caring for the mind, body, and spirit.

💎✨ Crystal-Infused Water: Which Crystals Are Safe? ✨💧

Crystal water bottles and gemstone rituals have become increasingly popular, but not every crystal belongs in your drinking water!

🌿 Generally considered safer for indirect use or occasional direct contact:

✅ Clear Quartz
✅ Rose Quartz
✅ Amethyst
✅ Smoky Quartz

⚠️ Crystals to avoid placing directly in drinking water:

❌ Malachite
❌ Selenite
❌ Pyrite
❌ Fluorite
❌ Hematite
❌ Lapis Lazuli
❌ Calcite
❌ Tiger’s Eye
❌ Any crystal containing metals, copper, or unknown minerals

Why? Some stones can dissolve, chip, rust, or release trace minerals and metals that are not intended for consumption.

✨ A safer alternative is indirect infusion:

• Place crystals around your pitcher or water bottle.
• Use a separate glass vial inside the bottle.
• Enjoy the beauty and intention without direct contact.

At Barefoot Holistic, we believe that hydration itself is one of the most powerful wellness practices. Clean water, mineral-rich foods, and mindful rituals can nourish both body and spirit.

💙 Remember: Beautiful doesn’t always mean food-safe.

Do you use crystals in your wellness routine?

🍃 herbL folklore 🍃

In many old European traditions, herbs gathered in the weeks leading up to the summer solstice were believed to hold special strength and vitality.

Plants like rosemary, lavender, mugwort, yarrow, and St. John’s wort were often harvested, dried, and hung in homes for protection, wellness, and good fortune.

Whether you believe in folklore or simply appreciate the wisdom of our ancestors, there’s something beautiful about slowing down enough to notice the gifts growing all around us.

Nature has always been one of our greatest teachers.

Grounding isn’t just a ‘tree hugging hippie trend.’ 🌿👣
It’s one of the simplest ways to reconnect your body and mind to the present moment.

In today’s world, most of us spend our days:
⚡ stressed
📱 overstimulated
🏠 indoors
👟 disconnected from nature

Grounding (also called earthing) is simply the act of physically connecting with the earth, walking barefoot on grass, dirt, sand, or even sitting quietly in nature.

And while no, it’s not magic… many people notice real benefits when they slow down long enough to do it consistently. ✨

People often report:
🤎 Feeling calmer and less anxious
🤎 Better sleep
🤎 Reduced stress and overwhelm
🤎 Feeling more mentally clear
🤎 A deeper sense of connection and peace

Nature has a way of pulling us out of survival mode and reminding us to breathe again.

At Barefoot Holistic, we believe wellness doesn’t always have to be complicated or expensive. Sometimes healing starts with simple things:
Fresh air.
Sunlight.
Stillness.
Water sounds.
Bare feet in the dirt. 🌲

You don’t have to become a full-time forest wanderer to benefit from slowing down and reconnecting with the world around you 😂

Even 10 minutes outside can shift your whole mood.

So this is your reminder today:
Step outside.
Take a breath.
Unclench your jaw.
Feel the ground beneath you.

Your nervous system will thank you. 🤎
