To celebrate Lactation Month, we wanted to share an old photo from each of us nursing our babies over the past several years! Everyone at Empowered Lactation has valuable lived experience to draw on, in addition to extensive education and training. Here’s to our all our babies and all lactating folks providing human milk! It’s powerful and meaningful work. Happy Lactation Month! August is almost over but we never stop celebrating lactation and every person’s unique feeding journey.

August 25-31 is Black Lactation Week! It is a call to action to bring Black lactation stories forward, acknowledge the village behind each journey, and imagine what a more supported future can look like. Follow Black Breastfeeding Week to get involved and stay engaged!
In addition to August being National Lactation Month, it is also National Gried Awareness Month. Let us honor and celebrate Black lactation experiences, while also holding space for those whose journeys were interrupted by loss.

Happy Indigenous Milk Medicine Week! This week, we honor Indigenous families, communities, their traditional teachings, and generational knowledge carried through Milk Medicine.

Indigenous Milk Medicine Collective is a grassroots organization dedicated to promoting Native first food experiences, healing, wellness, and equity in Indigenous milk practices.

Today (Tuesday) IMMC specifically honors Two Spirit individuals’ unique lactation journeys and the contributions of Two Spirit birthworkers. Follow to participate and stay engaged!
