May 7th is International Harm Reduction Day! Harm reduction is an evidence-based, judgment-free approach aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with substance use. At White Bird Clinic’s Harm Reduction & Treatment Center (HRTC), we provide rapid and low-barrier support and essential resources for people with substance challenges, many of whom are experiencing housing instability. From safer drug use supplies and fentanyl test strips to survival gear, peer support, counseling, and case management, our services are accessible to everyone, regardless of insurance or ability to pay.
One client’s journey: After coming to HRTC seeking help while living in her car, she received peer support and a motel voucher, which allowed her to work through life challenges. Today, she is sober, employed full-time, in stable housing, and engaged in counseling — making her path to recovery possible.
